One of them starts something like
"If you really want to know why I was on a boat with a hold full of gold, and a welsh (?irish) princess, I'll tell you. But what happened after was a lot more interesting"

I think he was a Roman Civil servant, caught up in strange events. Read them years ago on recomendatio of a freind, can't remember what the hell they are called.

Just some "throwaway trivia", but the original concept for the 1983 action movie 'Blue Thunder' was that the pilot, Officer Frank Murphy, was so paranoid schizophrenic that he believed he was the reincarnation of Thor, the Norse god of thunder, and that he eventually used the high-tech chopper to lay waste to the City of Angels. Thankfully, the plot was changed.
