So, when people want to know when the ascendance of robots began, you will be able to tell them:

Apparently, their designers don't watch TV, or movies, so don't understand the pitfalls of this type of experimentation. ;-)

No, they don't. They are too busy building the machines that will spell humankind's doom to watch movies or TV.

In fairness to the designers, when was the last time Hollywood got something right?

Using them as your oracle for the future is a bit misguided.

And besides, I can't wait for the "Cherry 1000" model to come on line. Yummy ! ( For you youngsters, that's an old movie reference….Nice irony, Eh !)

"Cherry, go get me a pepsi."

I'd buy one of those!

"…carrying out experiments on yeast metabolisms…"

so these scientists are programming robots to make alcohol? obviously a nobel pursuit (not a typo)

the world economy collapsed today after machines have completely taken over every job in the market leaving humans unable to earn money to spend…

In other news, sky net was elected as the new global leader by unianimous vote…

Yesterday I found the soundtrack CD for it…

No, this link is creepier; straight out of SF. The implications in the near future are enormous. Just that the brain is truly accessible (just like in Brainstorm), that thoughts can be "read" by a reciprocating robot, changes my views on what thoughts are. How far away can video replicating of thoughts be (as in Future World)?…

Farstar03 Apr 2009 2:06 p.m. PST

"Reading" motor function commands and interpreting memory in video form are probably not simply a matter of degree. One is not just "more" of the other, as I understand it.

Lentulus03 Apr 2009 6:25 p.m. PST

No future – they cannot grovel like human graduate students.

Might one ask where you found it?
