At the most recent Cold Wars I hooked up with a buddy I hadn't seen in a few years. He is living 6 months out of the year in Northern Virginia and 6 months out of the year in Tuscany. Yes, Tuscany in Italy! I don't know the specifics of his finances; however, he retired well but I don't think outrageously well. BTW-I'm very happy for him as he really is one of the good guys. This got me thinking though (that of course is always dangerous). I'm 2 years away from putting my last child into college and hopefully 6 years away from having her graduate. That gives me 10-12 years to really sock it away retiring at 67-70 which is still very young in my blood line. I'm thinking about looking in Southern France in and around Provence to perhaps buy, if it's even possible, in a small village. Once there I envision opening an authentic North Carolina style BBQ and B&B. I suspect the aroma of slow roasting pork shoulder and picnics with a tangy (not sweet) BBQ sauce would really catch on in France. I could bring true epicurean enlightenment to the heathen French. What do you think? So a NC BBQ and B&B in the South of France, winner or not, or is Northern Spain the better choice? Donald~ |

When you say NC BBQ, you are refering to the vinegar based BBQ sauce, right? Or am I mixing it up again? |

you are refering to the vinegar based BBQ sauce That is correct, although I like mine just a little thicker then the traditional but not too much. D~ |

I understand authentic Mexican food in Europe does not exist. I could retire perfectly happy on the continent selling moles, hog's head tacos, chiles en nogada and really proper cemitas Puebla-style (with chicharon). |

I'm partial to tamales and tacos myself, but I hear you Steve! D~ |

I believe the income taxes and sticker shock might frighten you, Donald. |
