I leave bright and early tomorrow morning for a week in Vegas. Most of my time will be consuimed with work and client dinners, but want to do something "different" than I usually do(like drink and gamble). I have half of tomorrow free (although I'll probably be watching the NCAA tourney at the Sports book in the Wynn) Half of Monday and Half of Wednesday free. I'm thinking of hitting some of the rides at the Stratosphere and perhaps NY, NY or Circus Circus. I'm not *that* big a fan of Star Trek for the trek experience. Any other ideas? |

The Star Trek experience is gone, anyway. Go visit John Coviello at the Little Shop of Magic: link If you want to wander around fancy shops, the Forum at Caesar's Palace and the Venetian are the ones I like best. Go down to Old Town and check out Fremont Street. Run out to the Ethel M. chocalate facory and take the tour. Go by the Elvis museum. There's lots to do that isn't too expensive. Allen |

You can pretend your in Venice qand go on the Gondala ride, but think you need to book for that at least a few hours in advance. When I was there in 2000 I left it to late and couldn't get in. there are also the waxworks which I thought was fun. |

Have you seen the Hoover dam. It is worth the trip, I've always thought. |

If you've got access to a car you could drive out to Red Rock Canyon (just West of Town}. Valley of Fire is nice but it's pretty much a day trip. I'd suggest staying clear of Fremont Street
as far as Vegas goes it's sort of like the bottom of the trash can. If you like punk music and midget-porn then I'd suggest a visit to the Doubledown Saloon
off of Paradise, nearish to the airport. (actually they had to remove the midgets and the mechanical pony a while back
but the spirit remains the same). |

"I'd suggest staying clear of Fremont Street

it's definitely an Experience. So was the Black Hole of Calcutta
Except for the craptacular light show it doesn't have anything you can't see on The Strip
all the same drunken, homeless, desperate people compressed into a smaller and uglier area
it's the town's giant neon cloaca! I do kind of have a soft spot for The Plaza
but the surly Don Ho impersonator is gone
and the charming solo lounge-act under the escalators at Fitzgerald's isn't around anymore either
One bright spot about Fremont street is that after Neonopolis went on the skids the rents dropped low enough that a bunch of art galleries opened up inside. |

"I do kind of have a soft spot for The Plaza
" Only place in Vegas I've been sick after eating there
Fitzgerald's brings back some fond memories. Allen |

The show in front of Treasure Island is fun, and free have to get there early though. There are a couple cool little shows in the Forum shops, the Paris is fun to look at
since you are at The Wynn
La Reve is a really good show IMO. Their dinner buffet though expensive is pretty awesome, we hit it every time we go. The shark thing at Mandalay Bay is really cool. Of course there are the Bellagio fountains and the Conservatory there as well. |

I highly recommend Hoover Dam. My family took the tour five years ago and I was very impressed. Have fun and Salut! Bruce the Texas Grognard |
