Can battle robots be far behind?

I figure there's a couple more models before combat bots. Just ask yourself the question of what industry is among the first to expand into new entertainment technology.

With Arnie's head?

This is dumb. They supposedly built her to the proportions of a Japanese woman, but she still walks like my son's plastic T. Rex. Useless as a model. Same walking robot with a female mannequin face. I'm glad they've built "walking" robots for research purposes, but for practical purposes the robots that move like this would be better off with wheels.

This is also not altogether wholesome. It wouldn't be interesting at all except that they gave it a female face. It's the supposed female-ness about it that makes it more interesting than any other RC man-sized walker. There's no new technology here, just the suggestion that woman-ness that can be owned, and I won't be such a killjoy as to talk about where that leads.

Sorry to suck the fun out of it, and I'm not claiming to be above it, but it's kind of puerile.

Battle-wise, these things fall over so easily that Rock-Em, Sock-Em Robots would be more satisfying. Check out Robot Wars, that was a good show, it has to be on youtube or DVD.

Uh…hate to break this to you, but the future of sex in Japan's already been shown via "Ghost in the Shell"…believe me…she's just a proto…five or ten years from now…there will befully functional walking and talking "toys" of all shapes and colors…you haven't seen anything yet.

The Japanese are hot for this sort of stuff..whether YOU (or I) like it or not!
