Two of the three ads I answered in the paper required a fee for purchasing materials related to getting the job. $130. USD I'm trying to make money, not spend it. I'm not allowed to do this for everyone, but you sound serious about getting a job. $60. USD Thanks for your time. ____________________________________________________________ Make "up to" $600 USD a week contacting people to let them know the government owes them money. $90 USD fee.
Thanks for your time. ___________________________________________________________ Found a temp agency in the Yellow Pages. Dropped in. We aren't hiring here. Only Missouri and Louisiana, and only welders. JW |

I had an insurance company "found your resume on the Internet!" call me in for "interviews". Really, they were hour long pitches where the district managger starts counting out hundred dollar bills at the podium. The gist of the whole "job" (independent contractor, no salary, commissions only) was that I first needed a license to sell insurance in Pennsylvania, and please bring your checkbook and credit card to the next interview where we have the reading material, and will help you with the licensing feee for only $500

Aren't there laws against that kinda crap? We've just had a number of news reports here in UK about modelling companies doing that sort of thing. Basically they advertise 'free' sign ups and taking of head shots and then ask for a fee on the day for 'admin' in order to get you out to the their customers. Surprisingly (and quite pleasingly) this practice is actually illegal in the UK and has been for some time. |

What industry are you looking for? Also look at multiple search engines (Monster, DICE, and even Craigslist). There maybe a site that specializes in your area of expertise |

Oh, and government agencies seem to be very keen around here to charge hundreds of euros to put some stamps onto papers to be allowed to work in for instance education. Of course after spending all the money there is the question of whether there is any work available. Suddenly I don't wonder that much why lotteries seem to gain in popularity – it might do just as much good as an investment in the future

UJJ – Ah, that's always great fun: "Yes, I do some freelance modeling too." "Oh really?" "Yea, building model tanks and stuff.." |
