I picked up a new pin (badge) at the local scifi convention this weekend, its message: 'Intelligent Design: Evolution for Dummies' |

Isn't deliberate bumping a DH offense? I seem to recall that it is. But Bill won't get any complaints from me!

Hi Pete, why would it annoy me? I get all giddy STILL about archeology. Poor Doug over the decades has suffered from my shoving some interesting article on flint knapping or something into his hands. Just yesterday a mormon friend was talking to me about the subject sort of. I was explaining the basis of late 18th century thinking about why ameircan indians were from the "ten lost tribes". Partly this was driven by a Glen Beck show a few days ago reviving Jefferson's thoughts on this. For ME, I delight in the dig and letting the evidence be what it is. So, I was explaining how "observer bias" could trap people into selecting the bits of evidence to prove a pre-determined conclusion. As I have held here and elsewhere, the universe is way too big for my limited intellect, I have no problem just accepting the evidence is what it is, not some proof of my religious upbringing. Rocky, Absolutely correct. The classic example of observation bias on a dig was Schliemann at Troy. Mind you there is much more archealogical evidence for Homer's Troy than there is for the Kingdom of David and Solomn. EWJ |
