Like Sword of Aragon, Star Control, etc. If you have links, that would be great.

Star Control II is available in Linux, as is a free version of Panzer General, Warlord and an original game called Wesnoth

Mac or PC?

Apple's site has lists of downloadable games in all sorts of formats (freeware, shareware and demo), with links to each. Quality varies, of course.

I have Wesnoth, which is a hex-based strategy game, sort of a cross between Warcraft and the old Might & Magic strategy game. It's turn-based, not real time; more of a boardgame translated to the computer, with the computer rolling the dice for combat. Old school with good 2D vaguely animé graphics. Worth a look. I don't know if there's a PC version or not.
