Well I had to stay home from work today. I have an ingrown toenail that has become badly infected. I went to emergency this morning and the Doctor there prescribed Cloxacillin for the infection. I had to take the stuff when I was in my twenties for an infection on my leg, and the stuff made me feel like I was going to throw up. Hopefully I don't get the same side effects this time. Better that though than the infection. I sure wouldn't want to lose a toe. Now I guess I have a good excuse to sit at home and paint miniatures now :)

Cheers.

I had an ingrown toenail in the not too recent past (I shattered my toenail as a kid and while I still have it, it never grows out properly). It became infected. The podiatrist tried twice to remove the thing with a scalpel. No luck. I had to do it myself. It was the biggest relief I've ever felt in my life!

And it's always embarassing to be home from work due to a sore toe!

Any chance you took the medication on an empty stomach? Whenever I'm prescribed antibiotics (like if I catch the flu), I'll usually take it with or right after a meal. Also, don't forget to check with your pharmacist to see if it will interact with any Rx or OTC meds you may be taking, just to be safe.

Here's to your good health, George! thumbs up

@ Saginaw. Thanks for the good wishes. Actually, the Doctor and the Pharmacist where very specific that the medication had to be taken on an empty stomach. So an hour before or two hours after a meal. @ nycjadie. I am never embarrassed if I feel bad enough to stay home from work. There where a few people that where telling me to such it up and suffer, but boy do they ever whine if they even get the slightest scratch ;)
Cheers.

Oh I feel for you….A few years ago I got my toe stood on at a concert and it became infected. 2 courses of antibiotics did nothing for it, 2 trips to the NHS chiropodist and his hacking and slashing at the nail did no good. In the end went and paid privately and had the ingrowing nail removed. No problems since…

Take care and get well soon
