Here is a story and one of the reasons that I will always have job security – kids who grow up like this:

Yep – I am sure with his anger management problem that he will be a frequent flyer in the criminal justice arena when he is older!

I though that rednecks in trailer parks at least had closets with high shelves.

And I have job security because of exactly the same sort of thing but for a different reason.

Paramedic or undertaker?

As for rednecks and shelves, what's the point of having a gun if you can't get to it in a hurry? Please note, I'm trying to think like a redneck here.

Close. Organ procurement coordinator.

In truth there is something to being able to get to a gun in a hurry if you have it for home security. Having your four year old get to it in a hurry is a different matter. It should probably be looked at as being at least as dangerous as Drain-o.

Did you see the woman whose shotgun went off when she rolled over on it in BED!

You can't put the gun on a high shelf because 1) guns are heavy, and heavy objects on high shelves are potentially dangerous, and 2) if the gun is on a high shelf the four year old won't be able to reach it when he needs it.

One suspects the four year old didn't have to load the gun, either. None of us would be so daft as to bring up trigger locks.

Here's hoping the kid gets some help and never has another incident like this.

I see your point. It would suck if the four year old were hurt because the gun fell on him while he was reaching for it, or because he had to make a makeshift ladder to get it.

Well, it's the babysitter's story that the foot tromping was an accident. What else is a four year old surrounded by a bunch of teenagers supposed to do in that situation? (NOT SERIOUS FOLKS).

I seriously think there's more to this story. A bunch of teenagers, a bunch of little kids, and a loaded gun. I'd be more inclined to believe the teenagers were playing with the gun and blamed the little guy thinking he wouldn't be punished.

Pump the action and fire again.
