My Mom was watching 'Live with Regis and Kelly' this morning, and actress Jennifer Connelly was on promoting the remake of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'. Now, I haven't really paid any attention to her since that movie she was in many years ago about being locked up in a mall with a boy, but she looks shockingly thin! Has she been like this for a while, or what? What's the story?

Thank you.

The story is that she is probably terrified that she will appear on the cover of a supermarket tabloid with arrows pointing to areas that are 2mm out of design spec.
Althought pretty, she is at best "B List", so she has to keep "in shape" (!) to be able to keep getting work.
Sad, really, since I like girls to look like girls, and not boys.

Of course, I am assuming that she is acting rationally.

Rationally? I would assume actresses are irrational, then only change my mind if offered good evidence to the contrary.

I am using the word "rationally" in the sense that she has a "reason" for it. Not in the sense that it makes any sense.

"Irrational" is SO judgemental….

Jack Nicholson and Harrison Ford seem to like stick women.

did you ever see that movie of hers where she was locked in a Target overnight? Plump in comparison. Almost voluptuous. Now she's twiggy. Pret a porter.

I much prefer the Jen of Labrynth or Rocketeer to the current model. And she had her face redone, now it's hard to see the same beautiful girl in the "madeover" woman.

At her best in Dark City…

Yep, definitely has a case of what Bruce Campbell calls "spores." Got to be too thin and have "work" done.

Ah, this explains it: link

I thought she looked pretty hot in Blood Diamond.

I seem to remember than in her 'Rocketeer' days she was sporting 'vast tracks of land'… but it seems that those went away with the rest of her curves.

She was 'smokin' in Rocketeer! Her first movie she was pretty eye catching too.

Thanks,

John

Some women angst over not being thin enough. Then there's the other extreme: link fortunately for some like Keely, they pack on enormous weight and still retain an attractive shape. I think she looks sexy both ways. Too bad Brosnan can't do likewise. Maybe they'll go on a diet together someday….

With Holiday Season parties upon us, there is hope that she could pack on a few pounds yet.

I think Jennifer Connelly looked her best in "A Beautiful Mind."

Jennifer! Ah! Such a beauty, and smart as paint. Some of you are extremely judgmental and ungallant. From all I've read in interviews, over many years, she's uncommonly smart and aware. A rare bird in the movie biz. She has always been great in everything I've seen her in, and I love The Rocketeer, House of Sand and Fog, Waking the Dead, and Dark Water. She's shed her baby fat, and frequently badly made-up and dressed in fashion mag photo shoots, but still always a beauty. And more importantly, a funny and intelligent woman, pretty down-to-earth for someone in such an unreal job.

Just wanted to stand up for one of my fave actresses. Jen, call me! haha!

…smart as paint…

I'm not sure that means what you think it means…

"smart as paint, is young Jim" -- good enough for Long John Silver, good enough for me! Yo-ho-ho.

PS: Jen called to say she thinks you're all a bunch of meanies, everyone 'cept ME.
