Well, things certainly can change and lead down interesting roads.
On Friday morning I woke up early, couldn't get back to sleep. So I just kinda lay waiting for the alarm clock. When it went off, I got up, got dressed and went to work. I felt kinda bad on the train, and when I walked into my boss' office to ask for the nearest A&E, I collapsed.
I was taken to the A&E with a 3/3 for a stroke. I spent the weekend in hospital, unable to move my right limbs, with slurred speech and all the attending symptoms. After many exhaustive tests, the doctors have not actually given a proper diagnosis, but it appears to have been a "mini-stroke". While my limbs and speech are starting to recover, I suspect I may be left with permanent memory loss. Still, I'm on the route to recovery- slowly, and bit by bit.
However, the main reason I'm writing this note is as a warning. One of the many things that WAS diagnosed (and may have been a factor in the mini-stroke) is high cholesterol.
I lead a healthy, active life, and eat a balanced diet. Until the blood-test came back with 8.5 for cholesterol, I thought there was no chance of it. I'd like to urge everyone to go for a test- believe me, a stroke or mini-stroke is NOT fun, and I'll be suffering the after-effects for a very long time.
