Why would anyone seek legal advice on TMP?

You get what you pay for.

Get an attorney.

Can someone explain why my thumb gets numb when I extend my arm? Should I take anything for it?

Farstar23 Oct 2008 3:44 p.m. PST

Since giving John medical advice beyond the obvious ("ask a professional") would likely lead to legal advice later…

However, you have to admit that the TMP community does quite well with marital advice… grin

Can I sue Greg for slander? (or is it libel?)

In any event, I'm *fairly* certain he offended me…

Streitax23 Oct 2008 8:25 p.m. PST

No, you can only stifle him.

John,

Does it hurt when you hit your head with your hand?

My head, yes. My thumb, no.

Can I copyright "John the OFM", or do I have to get a patent on it? And, what about all those Franciscans running around with O.F.M. after THEIR names who are named John?
Are all 38,678 posts on TMP my intellectual property?

1) Then stop doing that.

2) Yes.

3) No.

4) Prior right. Or maybe it's a Monastery.

5) Only some of them.

"Can I copyright "John the OFM".."

Yes. But I can make copies of you and put you to work under the Fair Use.

You could try to establish Trade Dress for "John the OFM" appearing in blue sans serif on grey with your grotesque icon next to it. Except that Bill has already copyrighted it several thousand times.

And I don't see why TMP can't practice law. It consists of the randomly-pooled wisdom of a group of people that includes several lawyers, and the whole is greater than the sum of the parts, right? TMP is a super lawyer.

So if I have to go to court I'm taking a laptop with wireless internet and the judge can start threads and you all can answer and not only will I win my case, but the jury will learn a lot about scale creep and Zardoz.

"Yes, your honor, my counsel is actually a hive-mind."

Careful, they put out bounties on those.
(Because the TMP needs a Shlock Mercenary reference occasionally)
