Howdy,
I've exhausted my search-fu and am turning here as a last resort, there's a lot of knowledgable people are here, so here goes:

I had a few black and white illustrated magazines when I was younger, that had stories about ninja and martial arts stuff. I'd say they were printed about 14-18 years ago. Sadly I cant recall the name of the magazine, but it was something not too imaginative like "kung fu action" or "ninja action" or some such. I say magazine because they weren't standard American comic book size, slightly larger. I wouldn't say they were manga-style either, although the first issue was. I think the first issue was one story, the others I had seemed to have been serials with more than one story in them.

The first issue had great artwork in it. It was about a ninja who went into a temple or castle, and fought a few demon/god guys. One had a chain-claw, another had a skull head, and the battles were pretty sweet. I think it was what I would now call manga-style, with tones and such… at that time I had no idea manga existed, lol. The end involved an imprisoned female spirit busting out of her prison.

Other mags had serial and one-shot stories… one had a modern samurai duel where the loser got a slash across the eyes, another was a serial about a group of siblings trianed in ninjitsu, etc.

Let me know if you know what the heck I'm talking about!
