After 2-3 years of steadily worsening conditions starting with my left arm including strength, ROM, dexterity and inability to perform rapid movements a HC provider ( in this case a physical therapist ) suggested a Neurology consultation. He was right. It turns out I probably have Parkinson's Disease. We'll know if it is if the medication for Parkinson's works or not( overwhelming evidence it is though). Minis are nice but I'd trade every mini I've ever owned to be free of this problem. There's a chance I'll develope Dementia is part of the disease, I find that most distressing.

I'm not fishing for sympathy or pity, to a certain extent it's managable. I was wondering if anyone else here has this disease and their experiences. Do you still paint or is that too difficult even with treatment. It's been a coupleof yeaars ince I've painted anything.

I like to take a moment to complement the caer I've recieved at the Asheville,nc VAMC throughout this process, it's been first rate. Particularky my Primary healch care provider and now my Neurologist.

Im no doctor (though I play one on TMP)…
iirc a cure is on the horizon.
the disease responds to Dopamine but there is no delivery system yet.
good luck.

Hope you find the medication works well for you, it's a condition which varies a lot from person to person so don't automatically take the worst scenario as the only one.

Check out all you can about it, there's a lot to learn and there are quite a "self-help" ideas out there – look for information from people who have it, or who are close to people who have it, for the best.

Keep fighting, and good luck!

Keep your chin up – and keep faith. I've heard that the Omega 3 vitamins are supposed to help to some degree – although all the evidence is anecdotal. I will put a prayer in for you – it never hurts!

Do not be too down, Parkinson's treatment is very good now. People have a very good quality of life and they are making great strides everyday. Good Luck to you.

Just walk it off, and you will be fine…

You must get lot's of excersise as well as a generous supply of V8 and mushrooms. Other "fresh not frozen" vegetables and fruits are greatly helpfull.

And when I say "Exsorsise", I mean work until your body aches. I would suggest getting a job in a fast food restaurant rather than jogging or working out.

I have it as well, which is why my now chosen profession is delivering newspapers. And guess what, my condition hasn't gotten any worse since.

I did have an aunt who languished in her bed and soon developed complications that slowly led to a painful death. You do not want to weaken your immune system. Future studies will show that you must practice tactial strength every day, and keep your mind as active as possible.

This is where our hobby becomes usefull.
