At least Hurricane Ike. For the second time in two weeks my Dad and I, as well as countless other Southeast Texans, face yet another possible evacuation. I won't know until Wednesday if we will have to leave. Believe me I don't wish a Hurricane on anyone but I am hoping and praying it goes further South into an area that is sparsely populated. Anyway, Salut y'all! Bruce the Texas Grognard |

Bruce, here's hoping for a safe transit if you have to evacuate again. You know, it might be a good idea to use up some of that accumulated vacation time right about now. |

Everybody alway stalks about the weather but no one ever does anything about it. |

It has been a busy hurricane season so far, hasn't it? We're watching Ike too. |

Eeeek. Since I looked at the map last night, their projection for landfall has shifted – they have him showing up in our front yard. |

mweaver, it looks like you'll be doing a lot of mowing with all that rain Ike will dump in your front yard! Stay safe down there. |

nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml Ike is, as of the most recent advisory, down to a Category One, but about to launch across the Gulf. Ike has already been up and down the scale several times, and is currently projected to head for southern Texas. The link is to the National Hurricane Center's advisory page. Front and center will be an orbital shot showing all current storms. Scroll down for advisories and graphs. |

Last I heard (this morning) it was aiming for Corpus Christi, TX) This seems like an opportune time to invite the Weavers over for a Disneyland trip, but I expect we'll be getting some rain off of Lowell coming up from Baja. Just before Katrina, there was Hurricane Hillary which went through the Caribbean and hit Mexico's east coast but kept enough cohesion that it reformed as a hurricane in the Gulf of California on the west coast. Wow. The newest update looks for all the world like someone in Oklahoma just turned on a weather machine, started a rain dance, or blasphemed in truly astonishing fashion. |

Yup, looks like it is going to take I37 from Corpus to San Antonio, hook a right and travel up I35 to Okieville. Current prediction shows tropical storm strength in Waco!!! |

Yup, if he follows the currently predicted path we'll have some rain, but that's about it. I can live with that. |

The County I live in has has called a voluntary evacuation. My Dad and I are headed for Longview, TX. Again I will not have access to a computer and I don't know when I'll be back. So hopefully I'll be talking to y'all in another week or so. God bless and Salut y'all! Bruce the Texas Grognard |
