In November I am on a business trip to Belfast. I will based in the city centre, limited to public transport and have limited time. Any suggestions about place to visits and useful shops. The business will be conducted at the Europa Hotel which is famu=ous in its own right as being the most bomed building in the world. |

John, were you born and raised in Ireland, in a house called Castlemaine? |

And, then I was transportated to van Diemann's Land. It was the look in her roguish dark eye, you see. |

Thank you, I think the Giant's Causeway many be too far to get too in the time I have. Any suggestions welcome. |

As Whatisitgood4atwork suggested (in his uncanny Ballymena accent), a Black Taxi tour of West Belfast (e.g. Falls Road and the Shankill Road) seems to be popular – I don't know about the open-topped bus tour of Belfast – not alot to see, and it'll be freezing in November. Maybe even visit the Ormeau Baths Gallery on Ormeau Avenue.. After that.. Belfast Castle in North Belfast (beware the locals!), City Hall and the Belfast Wheel.. Straight across the road from the Europa is The Crown bar – worth a visit for the interior and decent enough guinness. There are a million and one drinking-dens (I'd try Bittles down beside the new Victoria Square shopping centre – lots of nice, satirical paintings in there) – or The Cloth Ear/Spaniard in the Cathedral Quarter for a nice pint.. For eats there's the Mourne Seafood Restaurant on Bank Street, Deanes (expensive), the Merchant (expensive too). Belfast is still recovering from The Troubles – this is a bit of regeneration going on – but it does seem like, bar a few items of interest, all there is to do at the minute is go for a pint :) |

The Crown Bar is top of my list – beer and beautiful building. I have got the address of a couple of model shops. Belast Castle sounds a good idea. I don't feel comfortable doing a tour of "the troubles". Thank you everyone. |

Hi, I am back. Visited the Crown several times. Found a model shop. Took a bus tour of the city, a strange mix, including the Town Hall, the Titanic dry dock, the Shanklin and Falls Roads. John the C |
