So, we're spending the week at our "Beach" house, which is actually on the bay-side of the beach, but whatever
Friday, I was "working from home" and actually got stuck working, so no boat or beach time. Saturday, we have severe thunderstorm warnings, and enough periods of rain and Heavy winds to make us think the better of it. Sunday (yesterday), we made it out, but the weather was iffy ("mostly sunny" turned into "mostly cloudy") but the kids had fun "learning" to ride a "Bogie Board" (which is much, much easier when you are wearing a life vest
) Monday (today) SUCKED! Turns out the spot where we thought the dog kept piddling was actually a leak. Turns out our Hot Water Heater (which is located on a platform over our Kitchen) was leaking. The first inspection had me thinking it was just a corroded feed. After running the hot water, however, we realized it was the unit itself slowly corroding from the bottom (or not so much, anymore
) To make a long story short (I know too late), several trips to the Home Depot, two burnt fingers, multiple cusses, and a really sore back, I am now the "proud owner" of a new 20 gallon electric unit. Now, I have to figure out how to get rid of the old one without getting dinged for not getting a permit (two, actually, one for the plumbing and one for the electric
) Stay inside tomorrow, as it'll probaly snow, or something

No Fair, Bill! If we're gonna have a Bogie Board, we need a George Raft Board, and a Peter Lorre Board, and

A Thanksgiving vacation was ruined by a water heater. My sympathies. I hear 'Hello Mudda, Hello Fadda,
' in the background. Hope things cheer up soon. |

"To make a long story short (I know too late)
" Clearly you haven't read Murphy's job application post yet. His is long. Yours in brevity itself. Life seems to be harassing you both at the moment. If it is any consolation, (1) the dog is behaving himself, as it turns out; (2) you found the real problem before the bottom gave out and flooded everything. Sorry your vacation is turning out to be crumby. I know you could use a good relaxing one. |

Hey Phalen at least you don't have to deal with a Hurricane or their evil little sisters. Hope the rest of your trip is smooth sailing. Salut! Bruce the Texas Grognard |

What I plan to do on my vacation: Days one through six: wake up as late as possible, eat ice cream, watch DVD's, go to bed as early as possible: if anyone takes me out to dinner, that's to the good
