Hasbro has just brought out a new version of Classic Risk that apparently adds some new strategic elements to the game. They've also abandoned the "black powder" style for a modern era setting. I don't much care for that style change, but I'm always interested in variant rules. Anyone tried these?

If they are going modern, perhaps it includes the "nuclear Risk" variant…

Haven't played Risk in a skillion years.

I think the 'nuclear Risk' variant involves a can of lighter fluid and a match. wink

"a new version of Classic Risk"

new classic hmmm, got to be a joke in there but I am too tired to think of one.

Got a link to the new figures?

changing one mechanism in the game can allow for fast 30-45 minute games…. attacker wins ties.
Great for tournaments.

This is probably a good thing, but I wouldn't care for Risk with M-16s.

I have eight or ten Risk flavors and Risk clones in the garage, but it finally dawned on me that I don't like Risk, I just thought I should have them. Anybody looking for a copy of Castle Risk? Its missing its castles, as I got it at a thrift store.

I wouldn't mind trying Risk Godstorm, though.

Yeah, the new figures might be put to other uses.

The sf game (Risk 2210?) has nice minis. They paint up well as small scale mecha, or powered infantry and support robots.

altfritz02 Aug 2008 6:39 a.m. PST

The new "miniatures" are crappy – Arrows? Who wants arrows?

When we play Risk 2210 we nuke the areas AFTER everyone has set up.
