Anybody remember this game? It was originally a 3M Bookshelf Game, later purchased by Avalon Hill (who botched the production by screwing with the four piece board). Anybody still play Feudal?

It was one of my first wargames, back in 5th or 6th grade. Don't have it anymore.

I played it a few times in high school about 35 years ago. Never was any good at it (like most of the wargames I play). Sometimes it's available on ebay.

mweaver11 May 2008 9:11 a.m. PST

Yes, I remember it. I think I still have my copy packed away.

Decent little miniatures.

I still have and play mine.

Knight Templar11 May 2008 11:38 a.m. PST

Cool! Cyrus. I have lost twice in my life, in hundreds of games. A friend of mine back in the day used to refer to the game as "Futile", because he never beat me. I haven't played in many years though.

Still have my copy.

Grinch11 May 2008 5:51 p.m. PST

found my copy the last time I went to visit my folks. Not a bad game.

La Long Carabine12 May 2008 8:13 a.m. PST

Yep, I have a copy my parents bought me at a garage sell back in 1979 of my foggy old memory is right. Play it on occasion with my son.

I played it a few times. Gave it to my brother along with a number of other AH games and he threw them all away when he decided he didn't want them. Would have been nice if he'd asked me if I wanted them back, as I only gave them to him because I thought he would enjoy them.

moonhippie328 May 2008 7:36 a.m. PST

I had the origanal 1964 version. I loved that game, but it got burned up in a house fire.
It did get a bit boring after a while largely because of the limited terrain choices.

However, I have been working on an alternative lately that would involve hexes, medium and heavy pikeman, archers of course, dismounted knights, and light and heavy cavalry.
Being on a terrain mat, makes infinate posibilities. The 28mm plastics for the HYW that have been advertised and may be out in the next year or so makes it affordable.

My brother has a VERY old copy (doubt it's from 1964) and he used to whup my Bleeped text all time time. I recently got a copy when I was buying some 3M bookshelf games a year or two back. Haven't played it in years, though I do remember enjoying it.

Terrement03 Jun 2008 7:53 p.m. PST

Yes, still have it and Twixt.

Knight Templar09 Jun 2008 8:22 p.m. PST

Ah, Twixt, I have that one too. Lots of fun back in the day. I almost never lost at that one either, but I could be whupped if my attention wandered.

Dervel Fezian10 Jul 2008 10:04 a.m. PST

Yup, I used to play it with my dad.

Mithmee04 May 2011 10:09 p.m. PST

I have two copies.

I also have a huge win record with it and I mean huge. I rarely lost.

Though it did come down to the last few pieces.

A true game of attrition and area control game.

Plus never under estimate the value of your squire.

Oh and I would do any thing to kill my opponent archers.

zoneofcontrol05 May 2011 5:04 a.m. PST

Wow, that brought back memories. I had to check my game closet and found my copy (copyright 1969 – 3M Co.). Played the heck out of it in my teens and twenties. That was 30 years ago.

svsavory21 May 2011 2:07 p.m. PST

I have a copy I found at a flea market, but it's missing the rules.

pvi99th02 Jun 2011 6:25 p.m. PST

The rules can be found on Boardgamegeek.com Mine was missing the rules also.

SultanSevy22 Jul 2011 7:13 p.m. PST

I have 2 copies… Love FEUDAL; one of my all-time favorite boardgames. Haven't played it recently, but this topic gives me a hankering to break it out again.
