Does anyone know about the minature planes available for this game? Such as are they a consistant scale and if so what is it? DO they intend to make minatures for all the planes etc? |

They are a consistent scale and work well with other planes manufacturers on the market. I am not sure if they plan to cover them all but what they do not a bunch of others do in the same scale (Reviresco is one, I think) |

What do I need to buy to get started with this game? |

You need either Famous Aces or Watch Your Back to play the WWI game. Both is better. (Dawn of War is the first release in the WWII line.) Please note that the basic box sets do NOT contain the plastic minis, just cards. You must get the mini's separately, but they really add to the gameplay and are well worth it. Burning Drakens is a nice add on that expands the scope of play but you don't have to have it, as you say, just to get started. For More Info: link

No WWII planes yet as far as I know, just WWI. The game is definitely fun and easy to get a game going. |

I dunno if it does exist for the international market but there is also a Wings of War deluxe basic set that holds everything from the basic box plus 4 planes models from the first set. Elianto mondialterei.wordpress.com |

The WW1 planes are 1/144th scale. I belive the WW2 planes will be 1/192nd scle, but don't quote me on that. While they look very nice on the tabletop, they can be a bit of a hassle in gameplay; Firstly, lining up the maneouvre cards can be a bit tricky, since the marks are printed on the top surface of the bases, but not the bevelled side. Secondly, all the games I've played end up with lots of overlapping cards. This is, of course impossible with the minis, so it introduces some distortion into the gameplay. As well as the boxed games, there's two expansion packs, with extra planes (not new planes; just more of the same ones). |

"they can be a bit of a hassle in gameplay" When planes come within collision range, we swap out the models for their 2-D card representations, let the cards overlap, and bring the models back on the table after they've moved past. |

I don't think the Deluxe set is going to be available in the US, but I guess could be ordered from overseas. The planes do add a bunch to the appeal, imo, and, as said earlier, the cards can be subbed when collision is imminent. |

Is this game in any way, shape or form, playable solo? NL |

Regarding this game, there's a company that sells "tablecloths" for several games. The one best suitable for this game would be Ref: 0005 – Vista aerea. They have another one with clouds in it but I didn't like the clouds too much. link "Is this game in any way, shape or form, playable solo?" I'd say not very well, the basics is that each turn, each player selects secretly the next three moves his planes will do, once selected they play each card one by one simultaneously. |

About the sets: - Wings of War: Just the basic rules and planes. - Wings of War Deluxe set: As above but it also includes 4 planes. These sets are expansions of the the Wings of War, you need either one of the above to play: - Famous Aces and Watch Your Back as Illumisar already point includes a lot of planes. No miniatures nor new rules. - Burning Drakens: It includes several new rules and the observation balloons (this is one of my favorites), no minis though. - There is a set of extra cards sold in blister with more planes. - A total of 24 different minis of WWI planes. (two of thw Sopwith Snipes are the same and the only difference is one shows a 2 and the other an 8 in the fuselagge) This one is playable without anything of the above: - Dawn of war: It's second world war, no minis. There is also a new just released set of extra cards in blister for this one. |
