Oh God where do I begin
Well everyone at work started getting the generic cold/flu that seemed to be passing around for the past couple of months. I had missed it of which I was grateful. Then last week my rommate got zapped with a cold. Last Saturday I got hit with it and an upcoming week of overtime too, Joy! Needless to say I've had to contend with a sinus cold from Hell and overtime including working yesterday. Swell, just swell. Anyway the worst of it seems to have passed. Now if I cna just get the cash together to pay off Gotti so he will stop filling my head with cement dammit! |

I sympathize with you, Tom. I had the flu sans the stomach virus back in January and a recent and short head cold that I thought were allergies. Stay well, Tom! |

It's amazing how rotten you feel and then you start to forget what it was to feel well. Then you wonder if you will ever feel well again. I hope you feel well very soon. |

pphalen I've been battling a bought (boughts) of bronchitis all winter. Can't wait until Spring, when it will just be my allergies! DT: I hear ya, I am on my 5th round of antibiotics since thanksgiving, primarily allergy driven respiratory and sinus issues, we have had a "perfect storm" for allergies here in central texas, LOTS of rain last summer and perfect dry windy fall/winter for the cedar and now oak and ash trees to pollinate
my wife finally got my point last night when I explained that I have had concussions that didnt hurt as much as these sinus headaches I have had lately this sux Dave |

Is a "bloody" head cold where blood comes out of your nose? Sorry. Couldn't resist
Yankee imagery I guess
Hope you get well soon. John |

Otherwise known in Blighty as 'Manflu', a particularly virulent and extreme form of the virus that only the male of the species can contract

Actually John, I was getting some blood when I blew my nose so yes I suppose that would be accurate. I'm not sure what the worst part of this is, I mean I like it when my head drains out finally and its just chest congestion. Then I know its only a few days more and I'm usually done with it. Not this time. Right now its in between a head and chest cold. |

Give yourself permission to be selfish in your recovery! And EAT THE CHICKEN SOUP! There's something to the chicken soup

A bloody nose cam come from either the constant irritation or from a little irritation making the most of the dehydration that accompanies major nasal drainage. Chicken soup, in nearly any ethnic variation, is good for what ails

I just got over the dang crud while trying to get well for opening night of "To Kill a Mockingbird". I think the whole cast and crew had it and only the Dear kept us from having to cancel the play for a week or more. We stayed functional for five nights with bouts of "Shoot me now,Lord" before and after. I've had the mildest case I've heard of. I think that's due,in part,to hitting the symptoms early, resting and eating properly, going heavy on fluids,anti-oxidants,Mucinex,nasal irrigation, air purifiers, hot showers with some pungent aromatherapy and general spoiling. I drank buckets of soup, green tea, herbal teas, and 'healthy' waters like Propel lemon. Even so,my first days had my fever around 103 and my sugars around 360. I had to have normal numbers for 48 hours before my doctor allowed me out at all. The bug has closed down schools and businesses here and we seem one step away from masks, quarantine and Stephen King like Dystopian epidemics. It's had a smaller death rate than what we had 90 years ago but the treatments available (like antibiotics) don't seem to have progressed a great deal. We've mostly been told to treat symptoms and wait it out. |

P.S. The play went well. I'd felt flattered when I was told to "go home and lay down" before the bug hit and I had on my stage make-up. I was a lot more humble about my acting ability when I got rave reviews for playing an elderly harridan dying from a wasting illness – and that night I'd forgotten to do my face before I went onstage. Green face
blue lips
If I could have sung a note,I'd have auditioned for "Wicked." |
