I came accross this on youtube.

I don't know if it is a giant hoax or joke or if they a really serious. I would imagine the CoS would have some ability in that area as well. Could this be the first cyberwar? I must admit I find it fascinating. Does anyone know if they have attempted to hack or close the web sites like they threatened?

Clearly you are one of them.

Huh. It's not as exciting as operation Screaming Fist, is it grin.

Mind you, I did see one of their stickers on a pedestrian traffic crossing the other day. I peeled it off.

No Doctor Skull I found out about via a news link on my providers home page a couple of days ago.
What I was wondering is if the original video was just made as a joke or if they are really are going to start a cyberwar. Its something that has been discussed since, maybe 20 years. But it always was assumed to going to be between Governments. The USA and China always seemed a possibility to me.
What is operation screaming fist Andrew?

Thanks for the link Whatisitsgoodfor, very interesting.
It appears nations have beavering away at each other for awhile already. The slide show indicated alot of Chinese attacks, including on my little country.

You're welcome. I have been seeing reports of cyber skirmishes for a while, but don't know any more than I read.

'Operation Screaming Fist' btw was part of the back story in 'Neuromancer'.

Well they just had an excercise a few weeks ago. the second 'publicly' acknowledged one.

There are also Air Force ads running commenting on the cyber war. It states 3 million attempts per day on just the Pentagon.

We recently had an Army related Emergency Management Excercise at the first of the month involving Army related programs. Last year in a similar excercise, we operated for several hours with no communications network or internet service. Biggest problems were that it was hard to coordinate with the First Responders. A second finding was that it was very hard to get needed resources and personnel specialists from outside the county and especially outside the State.

So, where can I find 28mm Geek Squad minis?

Indeed. More specifically, the first "real cyber-warfare attack" in that setting.

That's an incredible number to have to follow up. In fact it must be nearly impossible!
I think the Perrys are working on the range Coelacanth. :oP

Well I reckon the Air Force can lie about stuff in there ads. But that is what the currently running ad says.

I thought it was very high as well but think about the attempts on a world wide basis. Not really that many.

No it isn't, we are currently at cyber-war with the PRC, Korea and various cyber crime organizations in Eastern Europe and Russia.
