auction

who would buy this book at that price?

Pictors Studio18 Mar 2008 7:00 a.m. PST

I got mine for about half that. It is a very good book and there aren't many other good sources out there on it. If you want it, you want it. If you can't find it any cheaper then I guess you have to buy it for the price asked or go without.

I loaned mine to someone, and for the life of me cant remember whom.
That'll teach me.

I don't remember paying anywhere near that for my copy.

I'm guessing the spine has a crease. Gave up trying to find this title, as well as Seleucid & Ptolemaic Reformed Armies and Justinian's Wars.

I had only one copy in the store several years ago. A very hard title to find. The Tang Dynasty book in my collection from the company has 88 pages. But I do not think that the Persian book is worth that $100 USD price.

Note for those that don't click on the link the "Buy it Now" price is $190. USD

I can't find more than three copies available for sale over the internet. Including the above ebay copy. So the price seems to be in line with the other available copies. Mind you I only searched for 5 minutes and if someone can find this book for sale at even $100 USD +/- a few bucks you might want to do the TMP community a favor and post it.

How about $165.12 USD or $190.13?

If I were interested in that army I wouldn't pay those prices. $190.00 USD is an army or two!

I got mine for less (but not half price).
It is the best source for color plates, a lot better then any Osprey on the subject. Problem is, there was only one printing, about 15 years ago and it never got reprinted.

While I was searching the book, it sometimes went a lot more on Ebay. IF you want it, you will have to pay for it, I guess…

Its a fabulous book – fortunately Duncan gave me a complimentary copy when he wrote it

its seriously expensive now but worth it .. try finidng the seleucid book without going pale at the price

I think I bought 4 of these boks when published the two above , an early byzantine one and one including siberian armies? I very rarely use them, might be tempted to sell at those sort of prices!

Compared to what Amazon UK wants it is not out of line:

That is how I have sold some of my older books – check to see what price they are going for on Amazon, ABE books, etc., and sell them for a little less.

This book turns up pretty regularly on eBay in the UK and goes for $50 USD to $80. USD If it is a bit more rare in the USA then the price is not too unrealistic.
