I hear it was a blessing he finally passed, he was in so much pain from the Leukemia. I never had heard that he had become friends with Betty Page. How cool is that. Marc |

That is very sad. The Rocketeer sparked my interest in the Pulps way back when. RIP |

RIP I haven't seen much of his work
but I appreciate what he did for the genre. Guess its time to dig some up. |

Hell that is so sad, I Just hope Bettie will be ok, he was one of the main people in her life and has helped her out loads. What a great man and he will be sorely missed. Ben |

One of the best ever, I'll miss him. I had no idea he was even sick. Rest In Peace Dave, you were a great inspiration. Peter |

I only wish he had put out more Rocketeer comics. His stuff was some of the best work I ever had the pleasure to read. And it made for a super movie, too. RIP Dave! |

I'm so very sorry to hear about his death & the difficulty of his illness. In regards to his friendship with Bettie Page, I'd heard that she was so removed from her former life that she didn't even know about the cult following her earlier work had. & that he'd taken her to a comic store with a big Dave Stevens/Bettie Page display to show her because she couldn't believe. Noone recognizer her though because she'd changed so much. |

I was a huge Rocketeer fan since the early 1980's. I still have his Pacific Comics run somewhere. I always wondered what he did for a living, being that he drew so few comic books and assumed it was a side gig for him. |

Yes Bettie can't work out why she is still so loved, but hell she was beautiful, she was recently at the playboy mansion and she still has something, and shes in her 80's! Dave was responsible for getting her a lot of money owed to her and took her out for ice cream and to get groceries. I Only hope she has others around her will be as honest and caring towards her as Dave always was.Hell I would but Im wrong side of the atlantic and Jo might have words with me she already has to share me with Bettie :) Ben |

May he have fun in the afterlife since he provided so much fun for others while here. |

Very, very sad news. I first encountered his work on Marvel's "Star Wars" comic, and I followed him closely since then. When the first Eclipse editions of "The Rocketeer" came out, I was blown away. Even if you set aside his beautiful work on "The Rocketeer", his friendships with Ms. Page and Doug Wildey (of "Jonny Quest" fame) should get him a free pass into Heaven. RIP, Mr. Stevens. |

Never saw his cartoons but loved the movie. His care for and of Ms. Page will stand him well in the Beyond. RIP. |

What a bummer. I loved those Rocketeer stories, and he was in fact one of my artistic influences. |

A real shame. The Rocketeer is no more – his jet pack is retired. |

Dave was a wonderfully talented artist and is one of the few guys that could get me to read a comic book just because his name was on the cover. The Indy comics industry owes him big! |

Damn! This is the first I've heard of it. How sad

Holy Crap!!! How did I miss this? I loved the comic and I loved him more for finding and helping Bettie Page. What a tragic loss. |
