It's been on sale at GMT for a while. It's an amazing game – just like the others in the series. More people need to find out about it.

You could use it to fight out complete raids and jump to miniatures for some of the engagements.

Finally, the long-awaited Petula Clark wargame you've been craving!

"When you're alone and life is making you lonely
You can always go – downtown"

Good to see GMT reaching out to a different audience.

I was thinking the same thing!

'Don't sleep in the subway, baby' …

I clicked through the link supplied by Saladin.

I have to admit I was expecting some sort of map board depicting city streets.

I'm guessing "Downtown" was Vietnam era air-war slang for the air space over Hanoi?

Excellent game! I've always regretted selling my copy, but I needed the cash :(

It is an excellent game, but the complexity will push it out of reach for most gamers. Elusive Victory on the Arab-Israeli '73 War will be the next in the series and is due out next year.

Hmmm… aegiscg47 seems to think most gamers are quite stupid…

Not at all, but today's gamers are a far different breed from the days of the 70s and 80s when something like Downtown was taken for granted in terms of complexity. My gaming group, of which there are 15, is a pretty good representation of gamers in general and we play 20+ periods, including boardgames. I can think of 2 or 3 gamers in my group who would be interested in this game due to the complexity and the length of the games. We played a full blown USN carrier strike and it took 7 hours, including setup and explaining the rules. In today's hobby, most gamers attention span drifts off after 2-3 hours.

I belong to Consimworld and other forums where many people have sold off this game due to the complexity, learning curve, and time it takes to play a game. It is an EXCELLENT game, but definitely not for everyone.

I agreee about complexity pushing it out for most gamers. Not stupid, just don't have the time or patience any more.
Back in the 70's all games took an hour per turn and were left unfinished in the wee hours of the morning.

No more of that for me.

Burning Blue is its simpler cousin. I like em both.

At least emckinney is consistent, no?

All Over the Skye, "At least emckinney is consistent, no?"

You picked up on that, too.
