Thanks for the article. Very inspiring.

A British army medic, Michelle Norris, received the MC for her bravery in Iraq in 2006:

She was the first female to receive the MC.

Also this week the first British R A F woman helecopter pilot got the DFC for flying a helecopter through a hail of fire at night to land in the centre of Basra to pick up a seriously wounded soldier who would of died otherwise.

congratulations to everyone male or female for their bravery

Spec. Brown is the ninth woman to earn this honor.
Well deserved as well.

When Private Norris received the MC, U.S. Marine Major William D. Chesarek Jr received the DFC as well:

He was the one who got the seriusly wounded Tommy, that Norris fixed up under fire, out of there while under fire.
First Joe to receive the DFC since WWII.

Another Silver Star out recently, but it was given to a swabbie:

He is a SEAL though so that reduces the inter-service rivalry – a bit.
What can you say bad about an outfit that has earned 23 Silver Stars and over a thousand Bronze Stars, many with "V" devices, over the last six plus years.
Salute to the swabbies!
