I sell small stuff on ebay. I had an auction that a guy won and I have not heard from in weeks. I sent 4 emails and finally got a response and the guy stated he paid via Paypal. This auction did not have that option as I only take Money Orders for stuff I sell. I have a Paypal account but it is only used rarely for purchasing. I went to Paypal and it shows a balance of 0. My question is if you are not set up for a Paypal option can someone still pay via Paypal? Do the funds show up on a credit card statement or some other invoice? Or am I getting robbed?

It should show up in your paypal account. Perhaps he sent it to another paypal account by "accident"? I think he is dicking you around, though. Ask him to forward to you the receipt he should have received from paypal when he made payment.

I agree with Bob in that the guy is probably messing with you. I would start the process of getting your fees refunded through ebay. If you want to give him another chance ask him which address he sent it to.

It will show up on your Paypal account. Paypal will make sure that they get their processing fee from the seller's (your) account.

I have a 1800+ rating and have met all types on ebay but is one story that I have not heard yet.

He "might" have sent it to a wrong account or even tried sending it to your email address (if he got hold of that some how). But no matter how he sent it, he must have a Paypal transaction number that he can reference that shows up on your Paypal profile that he can always check on even if he didn't save the email that they send you. If he claims that he doesn't have it anymore or cna't find it – he's screwing you over. If he comes up with one, you can check with Paypal to see where the money went and to whom.

Good Luck!!

He can get all the info he needs to give you by going to PayPal and checking his account, so he can't avoid not giving you dates and invoice numbers, etc.

If you have an email address that is not registered with paypal and somebody sends a payment to this adress you get a notification by paypal that somebody send you funds and that you can either open a paypal account instantly or add the address to an existing paypal account.
The money is always on your account and even if you actively withdrew it it shows up in the history.

In any case you get a notification email by them. No email no payment. There's still the option that he used a wrong email address and the payment went anywhere else which isn't your fault of course.

I'd recommend you to check his feedback history. If he is fairly new or not very reliable I would not risk much.

Tell him you have no notification of any type of paypal payment and that he can cancel his paypal payment and send you the Money Order as you requested. Simply tell him you do not do PayPal. If he refuses, you start the problems process of response through eBay.

That's right. He's dicking with you and/or clueless.

Personally, I find the "I don't take PayPal" guys annoying, but understandable. With the small sales, you are probably losing money on every $.99 USD sale by the time you add listing, FVF, PayPal, Postage, Printing (At least one sheet for a Packing Slip) and Packaging costs.

I am still trying to figure out a way to make money on the worksheet where I collected all those numbers; Shocking it is. Anyone willing to send me $5 USD by PayPal and I'll mail a hard copy to you?

And now you'll probably get a 'no star' rating on your shipping- maybe even a neg thrown in.
And such is the state of eBay now you'll have no redress whatsoever.
Folk seem to have this impression that eBay is full of evil sellers, stalking the listings, looking for their next buyer/victim.
And yes, he's either trying it on or he's borderline moron.

Thanks guys! Great info. Just to update I sent a polite email asking for the reciept and the account he sent the payment. His response was only asking if the item was shipped and for my name/account on Paypal. He has a limited amount of feedback. I have asked that the funds be USPS money order in 7 days.

Rick I would start an non-paying bidder action because you can prove to both ebay and paypal that he hasn't paid into your account I reckon he bid then noticed you didn't take paypal when he was trying to pay.
