Lloyd requests: Could you perhaps, time permitting, look up the following eBay number and look at the Lineol WW1 soldiers for sale there? I believe they are either French or Belgium but not Serbian. I've researched the book that I have by L.F.Funcken, L'Uniforme et Les Armes des Soldats de la Guerre 1914-18 but can't find a positive match. Thanks! auction |

To me they look italians in the pre-1908 uniform: link link |

The hats do not have a serbian look, too roundish. See serbians here. Very distinctive cap. picture link link the colors are not French or Belgian. Belgians would have one of those big belgian dogs, not Perhaps Austrian. That hat is very distinctive link |

They could be Dutch. I remember some time ago a post guessing the troops in a photo, and if I remember correctly they were wearing shakos and were dated. The Belgians wore shakos but with greatcoats. I could, and most probably be wrong! Karl |

Yes, except for the different color of the shako, and trousers, with no red stripe. The different foot wear, the different pack color they are the same. |

Try belgian The belgian shakos had an oilskin cover with pom pom and the pants and jackets are in the right colours as well. Plus they have a dog! A sure sign of belgians. |
