Hello all,

I am planning to sell my painted ECW army and I am not shure if it is to place at Ebay or wargamesmarket.

Please let me know your suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Why not just offer it here on the Marketplace board?

You'll never get anything near what they're worth on Ebay. Be patient and advertise here for a fair price.You've already paid for the right to post it here.

It s the packaging that has me spooked, I am planing on selling one but having sent stuff I thought was packaged ok and it got damaged I am in two minds..especially with those darn big pikes, sure to break off

I always thought of this board as an option to advertise items on Ebay.

So I will finish the army, it was locked for almost five years in a box so there is a little bit repair to do and I have to paint five guns.

Cold Wars is a little bit far for me, being in Germany.
Here around are no conventions were I can sell a complete 25mm army.

@Lowtardog
After haveing experienced the same I always remove the pikes from the figures and place them in the parcel.

Good Idea Dichelus, thanks for that

Yeah, Cold Wars isn't worth the trip from Germany just to sell some figs. :)

As far as packaging goes you need to wrap the figs in toilet paper individually. If you wrap the paper on either side of the pike builiding up a huge egg it won't break. It takes awhile but I've shipped, literally, thousands of figs with pikes now. I haven't heard of one of them breaking. You just have to immobilize it.

"You'll never get anything near what they're worth on Ebay"

Bad advice- it's still, despite its shortcomings, the best place to sell stuff.
One caveat- if they've been painted to a high standard then you really need photos that will reflect this. You can also put up a reserve if you wanted to as a safeguard.
If you're a bit unsure about eBay then why not do as suggested and try it on the TMP marketplace first?
Decide what you think is a fair price and see how you go.
There are also other private fora and 'marketplace' sites to try, such as Bartertown or the Miniature Wargames Marketplace.
You could even try putting an ad in one of the hobby mags.
Last resort is a bring and buy- but you really need a local show to make that viable.
Whichever method you choose, unless you go the B+B route, you will at some point probably need pics. Just to reiterate- make sure they show off the figures to best advantage.

Steve.

As for packaging- the secret is to protect the figures from each other. Make sure no two figures come into contact.
Two steps:
1) individually wrap each one or 'roll' them in bubble wrap or similar. As long as they're well packed then a couple of wraps of tissue paper per figure
And gemay be adequate.
2) pack them in tightly but not too tightly- the appropriate size of container is important. Too big and the figures will be thrown around in the box- bad news.
If you can't find an ideal size then fill the 'space' with bubble wrap or polystyrene foam.
Too small and the figures may be crushed- again, not good news. If you think the box may be too small- don't use it.

And make sure the container is sturdy enough- a metal army is quite hefty.
By the sounds of it you'll need extra insurance when posting- just ask at your local post office or whatever the German equivalent is.
And keep your shipping receipt- you might need it if the box 'disappears'.

"per figure
And gemay be adequate."

should read: "…per figure may be adequate."

Hi dichelus,

Would you be interested in a trade? I have a Front Rank 28mm SYW Russian army. 300+ figures.

dichelus25 Feb 2008 12:06 p.m. PST

@wrgmr1
thanks for the offer but 28mm is not the scale I prefer anymore.

@All
thanks for your hints.
My next step is to finish and repair the figures, take pix and post them in this marketplace.
