Hey all! Whelp, finished the wargames table and painting desk; next I have to put together another of those mirror shelves (it is in the garage in pieces) and then start hanging the various prints and weapons and such that I have. Comments and suggestions MORE than welcome!:) link |

Superb. Well done. Hope you get plenty of happy games in there. |

Looks good – I want one! Happy Gaming! |

Splendid! Although you might want to place some coasters under those wheels to keep from getting dents in the hardwood floor. Trust me! :D |
| CLDecker | 23 Feb 2008 6:24 a.m. PST |
Very nice! You should think about perhaps creating a .pdf with the design and materials info. That table is what many of us need! |
| Jacko27 | 23 Feb 2008 6:42 a.m. PST |
Strange but I have never seen a table that has a raised lip around the playing surface. Probably explains why I,m always repairing figures that get accidentally knocked off the table. Good stuff |

That is
lovely (teensie bit envious, but one day
)! |
| rusty musket | 23 Feb 2008 7:38 a.m. PST |
Very nicely done. I never take the time to make a good table. The table sides are a nice idea to save figures from accidents. |
| mweaver | 23 Feb 2008 7:55 a.m. PST |
Excellent set-up. (And if you have kittens, that lip will be doubly useful, in that figures they don't see they won't want to play with). |
| La Long Carabine | 23 Feb 2008 7:56 a.m. PST |
Very nice. And the raised lips help keep dice on the table as well. I wouldn't build a gaming table without them. LLC aka Ron |
Dave Jackson | 23 Feb 2008 7:59 a.m. PST |
Very nice indeed. As far as the lip on the table goes, seems to me the Wargames Holday Centre tables have lips. Good idea. Is your terrain on modular tiles, ie: can you remove terrain tiles form the table? or, if not, how is the gaming "base" if you will constructed? |

nice job, you have set the mark high for the rest of us to reach for I do believe. |

Nice set up but a second post on the same subject with the same apparent pics, is that necessary? TMP link |

mattw1, The photos are different from what he had posted when he made the original thread, just that he updated the photos on his site and did not preserve the old ones. Cheers, The Bandit |

Plans, please? I would like to see plans of your table. It is very insprirng. |
Blind Old Hag | 23 Feb 2008 4:58 p.m. PST |
Very nice. Stain it to match or compliment the rest of the woodwork. |
| Lord Ashram | 23 Feb 2008 6:58 p.m. PST |
I definately plan to stain it, but I have to wait until the weather improves and I can open the windows!:) I can write up some basic outline of how I did it, tho I don't know if I still have the measurements
lemme poke around. |

Let me add my chime to the chorus
. most excellent. I think the best part are the shelf-legs, where you can store rules, boxes of figures being used, snacks and drinks. Keeps the detritus off the bloody gametable!!! Awesome. |
| Delthos | 23 Feb 2008 10:52 p.m. PST |
Nice, but do you have wheel locks? On a hard wood floor that will move fairly easily with a bump or someone leaning against it with out them. |
| Bartholomew Twiddle | 24 Feb 2008 6:36 a.m. PST |
Terrific job, what are the actual dimensions? |
| Lord Ashram | 24 Feb 2008 8:42 a.m. PST |
The playing surface is 6.5 x 4 feet. There are wheel locks, but to be honest it is a heavy table and doesn't roll unless you really want it to. The shelf legs are actually from ikea and they are intended to be exactly that; shelf legs! Just screw on some wheels and bingo! To be honest, you could just drop a piece of ply over the top of them, put in a few 1.5 inch wood screws, and bingo! I'll be working on the room today to see if I can get it towards finished; gotta make the other cabinet, and then start finding studs and hanging stuff! |

Looks really good! Someone out there ever thought of "lifting" the surface higher than normal table heights? I've done it and I think it helps to prevent your back aching because you can stay upright while playing. And if you need to be higher take a small ladder or a chair. |
| Footslogger | 24 Feb 2008 4:11 p.m. PST |
Very nice indeed! Just out of interest, is your painting desk normally that tidy? Is anyone's? Mine is a right mess. |
| Lord Ashram | 24 Feb 2008 8:00 p.m. PST |
UPDATED! Here are some updates, now that the second cabinet is done and some of the prints and weapons have gotten hung; still have an original 1864 pack, some canteens and kepis and a few photos left to hang. Hope everyone has enjoyed, and I am so glad to hear some others have gotten motivated! link |
| Lord Ashram | 24 Feb 2008 8:00 p.m. PST |
Oh and no, it is NOT normally that tidy; it is brand spanking new, and I haven't even worked there yet:) |
| Macaroni | 25 Feb 2008 12:18 p.m. PST |
Nice, very nice. I'd take the time to stain and finish the wood to match the rest of the woodwork (which is fantastic) in that room. The result would be overwhelming. Terrific space for gaming. |
| Broglie | 26 Feb 2008 9:56 a.m. PST |
Small suggestion from personal experience. A small noticeboard near your paint table is always a good idea. Just a suggestion. |
Gabriel Landowski | 29 Feb 2008 1:31 p.m. PST |
Beauty stuff – very nice. Where is the wet bar?!? I've been planning to do glass shelves similar to your cabinets although I'd like to stick mine in at intervals between bookcases. Yours give me a very good idea of what it could look like and I like it! Must go to glass shelves and doors soon also – easier to find where I stuck stuff! Grand job! |
| jimborex | 29 Feb 2008 10:50 p.m. PST |
What, no paint or stain? I wouldn't play on an unpainted table any more than I would play with unpainted miniatures! Just kidding, great table. Enjoy. Jim |
| Lord Ashram | 01 Mar 2008 7:50 p.m. PST |
The stain is coming; I am just worried about doing it in the winter, because I cannot really open the windows to vent:) I will stain it to match the cabinets. |

Those base units from Ikea, what are they called so I can find them too? Thanks, Phil |

Here are the shelf units from ikea. link |

Wow. Looks great. I am quite green-eyed. I have my own room, but not decorated as wargame-specifically as yours. The loft gameroom at the house does have a lot of bookshelves, and a big heavy rock maple farm table (weighs about 300lbs – nice and sturdy but a pain to get upstairs, even in pieces). I also have a drop down desk taht is my paint area and miniatures storage. I need to get some specialized minis cabinets, I suppose, but for now I make do with my travelling cigar boxes. |
