Well, looks like the time is finally here. She'll be over a week late but the doctors decided today that they are inducing my wife. After spending the afternoon in the hospital waiting for a gap in the deliveries, they've kept my wife in over night and will do it tomorrow morning (assuming no influx of sudden births, they expected to be able to do it today).

So, as of 28th January I should be a father!

It's a girl, which clearly means I need to teach her to paint! (and then get a couple of friends who are really good painters to show her how to do the advanced stuff that I can't be bothered with.) Everyone knows girls make better painters.

Yeaaaaa! And, as I have noted before, all of the best babies are born in January. So – smart doctors!

Congrats – if it had been a boy I would have been happy for you to name your heir and son after me, but "Spider" for a girl probably doesn't go very well.

Congratulations! My girl is too young to do any real painting yet, but she loves playing with my "toys", or at least the ones I let her handle. (She can be a little rough on them, and some are pointy.)

Congrats!
If it is your first, get as much sleep as you can over the next couple of days!

Thanks all!

Well it's now the 29th but she has arrived at last. A VERY long wait in the hospital for her to arrive and then terrifying when she did and complications arose.

It's really quite scary when you're told to hit the alarms and the room suddenly fills with people and whisk you're wife away.

However, both mother and daughter are doing well and I've nipped home to take a much needed shower!
