And, what about "desert"? One "S" or two? |
| auton1 | 30 Nov 2007 6:44 a.m. PST |
Desert has one, dessert has two |
| Old Digger | 30 Nov 2007 6:45 a.m. PST |
I think one has one and the other has two. No, on second thought I think it's the other way around. |

When I was castaway on a desert island, I grew very thin. When I was castaway on a dessert island the opposite happened. |
Lord Billington Wadsworth | 30 Nov 2007 6:47 a.m. PST |
No, dessert always has 2. I remember because it is so good you want a second. ;) |
| dasfrpsl | 30 Nov 2007 6:47 a.m. PST |
I see your problem
Summer Pudding only has one "S", Basked Alaska the same but at least Chocolate Mousse has two. All are good desserts to eat in a desert. |
| dasfrpsl | 30 Nov 2007 6:47 a.m. PST |
Even Baked Alaska
spoils the point with an extra "S"!!! |
John the OFM | 30 Nov 2007 6:51 a.m. PST |
Wouldn't that be Baked Alasska? |
| Old Digger | 30 Nov 2007 6:51 a.m. PST |
And don't forget the seldom used desssert, the dry, often sandy, yet suprisingly tasty after meal treat. |

One way to remember is a good dessert is Strawberry Shortcake – two 'esses'. |

Desert has one, dessert has two
I think dessert has one, and desert has two. |

Hi OFM, The memory device I learned as a child was: Two "S's" stood for "strawberry shortcake." One "S" stood for "starving." However, Old Digger has his charm as well. Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

I had no idea that there were mnemnomnics to help you remember. |

Does "dessert" have one "S" or two? Yes! How many months have twenty eight days? All of them. A man without eyes saw plums on a tree. He did not take plums, He did not leave plums, How can this be? Andrew |
| Arteis | 01 Dec 2007 9:40 p.m. PST |
Because he was "looking" at an apricot tree? |
| Andrew Walters | 04 Dec 2007 8:38 a.m. PST |
He saw plums on the tree. It was, in actuality, a plum tree. Andrew |
