A Good-Looking Army in a Reasonable Amount of Time

Painting a wargaming army is a completely different beast from painting a single miniature for display.

Since I am single now and own my own home I am thinking of painting the upstairs bedroom/gaming room in battleship camo pattern. Two questions:

1--any online resources for showing actual ship camo schemes?

2--what would be actual process of painting the camo pattern? Am thinking of using light pencil to draw the pattern lines onto wall then painting--is this correct?

Any help is appreciated--thanks!

Probably a good way to stay single (j/k)

Kidding aside that actually sounds pretty cool. I'd use painter's tape to lay out the stripes – paint the lighter colour first then apply the darker parts.

You miht try this for a start on sources:

Just remember that someone will need to repaint that room, someday.

Take a look at how I painted my son's room a few years ago. he now has gone off to college so Dad gets his old room and it becomes a game room.

Take a look at the pictures towards the bottom of the Blog. (Sorry don't know how to post pics straight to the forum).

That's a cool colour/pattern. Nice.

WW I splinter camo would be easy to do with the afore mentioned taping technique. They used all sorts of weird greens, blues and even pinks that would also serve for scifi games. On the other hand, you might want to avoid using pot while you're in such a room. Could be a bad trip.

Paint alternate red and white stripes on the floor and you can pretend you are on the fo'csle of an Italian battleship.

Or for something simpler you could just pick up some rusting scrap metal, overfill the bath and seal up the doors and get that High Seas Fleet at Scapa Flow look.

Don't know what any of this will do for resale or a potential buyer but have fun.

I wouldn't worry about a buyer…it'll sail.

Just paint it in US Measure 22 – Dark blue-grey walls with a haze grey strip around the top. Not too garish, so it won't freak out any potential future buyers.

Thats funny!

I say have a boob and butt party. Invite a bunch of ladies over and have them dip their boobs and butts in paint, than press them up against the wall. grin

I'd go with U.S. Measure 33 dazzle!
