Greetings- Yesterday I aquired a copy of Bill Maudlin's mostly WW2 memoir 'Brass Ring', and I figgered that somebody here would want it. Bill was editorial cartoonist for 'Stars and Stripes' during WW2, and was right there in the thick of it as well.

I know that you've seen his work, even if you don't realize that you have. Here's an example;

Anyway, it is a memoir and not just a collection of his work, a written account of his life, and a good portion of the book focuses on his involvement in the war, including a write up of how he got G.S Patton seriously honked off at him.

So anyway, I'd like to pass it on. That's the only reason I picked it up in the first place. TMP link

Talk to ya later!!

Already have a copy myself, but I'll certainly second the recommendation. A really fascinating life he lived.

His name's spelled "Mauldin" though. :)

yes, it indeed is.

My father always told me- " If you ant to understand the war, all you haave to do is read Ernie Pyle and Bill Mauldin"

I enjoyed his "Up Front" even more than "Brass Ring". "Up Front" is all WWII.

There is another book that I picked up from BN.com several years ago called "Mud and Guts" written by Bill Mauldin for the Department of the Interior during the Bicentennial. This was his abbreviated version of "Up Front" modified for the AWI. In fact many of the cartoons are directly analogous to the WWII originals. It is very good and well worth getting.
