Viagra, ciallis, man-x and Ron Jeremy fans, (or those of Patch Perfect-the ultimate yard solution for greener yards!!!?)
now I'm getting FLOODED with 'fake' pharmacy order confirmations and similar 'ilk'
(which I DON'T OPEN or answer, naturally) Since all my meds are shipped via the VA med system and I've NEVER purchased any meds of any kind via 'mail order'
(INCLUDING any 'male enhancement' or yard growth forumulas???)
I'm at a loss to understand why I've started getting 'bombarded' by all these folks telling me 'thanks for my order', 'here's your invoice', 'thanks for your recent payment and here's your order tracking info', etc
ESPECIALLY when I've not opened any of their silly 'spams'
AND I've double/triple-checked my bank account, credit card and even paypal info on a routine/regular basis and have upgraded..(almost weekly), my 'protective' software etc
and change passwords with annoying frequency
etc. At some point, I have to wonder, are these folks just DESPERATE or have nothing better to do in their Nigerian etc, 'Internet Cafe's'
or just plain 'STOOPID?' I know these things tend to run in cycles and we are all probably getting a lot of the same stuff, but it seems like more and more of THESE sorts of 'fake' order things are showing up in my REGULAR mail
using my yahoo ID to bypass my 'spam filter'
(I spam them again anyway)
Then, there is my Yahoo, IM, where I'm getting 'hit on' even when INVISIBLE? by folks who 'can't see me', saying 'hi sweetie' etc
and have a hotlink to a site I don't bother looking at. I ignore/report them of course
and that only seems to ENCOURAGE them? (as if the very fact I report them, HELPS them to 'confirm' they got me??? I'm seriously considering dropping Yahoo IM at this point rather than have it running in BG so I know when 'new mail' comes in, while I'm working on other stuff. I could 'rant' more about this, but I know others are getting most of the same stuff, maybe more
and maybe it IS a change of pace from 'dying oil minsisters'
(The Church of the Holy Petrochemical???) oh well, at least they stopped trying to sell me the FEMALE viagra and 'feminine health care products'
My wife was beginning to 'wonder' about that one
(and the Oprah Hoodia stuff??) I thought a 'Hoodia' was a street term for those knit jackets with hoods that 'gangsta rappers' like to wear along with their 'bling bling'?? Move along
nothing to see, (or buy) here
. (whatever happened to Dear Occupant???) |
Gungnir | 06 Oct 2007 1:35 a.m. PST |
I'm getting tons as well, plus offers to get cheap pharmaceuticals from Canada. Which is funny, because all prescription drugs are free in the Netherlands, or better said, included in the minimal standard insurance package. And to disappoint even more spammers: yes, even Viagra, should the need ever occur. And no, I don't want to enlarge/lengthen any of my bodyparts, it would disturb the perfect harmony of the total composition. (Composition, when translated to musical terms, consisting of sirens, sounds of collapsing buildings, train wrecks, creaking hinges and various determinable dissonants) |
Dances With Words | 06 Oct 2007 2:25 a.m. PST |
Don't confuse me Gungnir, (not that it's THAT hard a thing to do in these times), because I'm STILL trying to figure our what part of the chicken is a 'nugget'
My 'collective parts' are still somewhat functional and none of them have 'sloughed off'
(though the local zombies are having 'issues' with that)
Actually, I've been busy 'packing' and getting ready for our 'big move'
(only about 4 miles total), but across the 'river' from OHIO to West Virginia and our OWN home
(well, ours and the BANK's until 2037 I think).. I'm hopeing to leave some of the junk mail, spam and yes, even the DAY CARE center younglings (who start screaming M-F at 8:30am promptly 18 inches below our current bedroom window
), for the 'peace and solitude' of a small 'chalet-style A-frame'
in semi-rurual setting
where I'll have my own 'man-space'/aka DAVE-space
for terrain board and my work bench with room for storage and my dremel tools and even my mag-light on swing arm for 'detail work'
. WOWSERS! Of course
I may be 'busy' for the next few months with little things like patching some walls, painting them, putting in some new fixtures and such
but it will be our 'home'!!!! 8-) Oh
and FYI
just got word from David Soderquist at Bronze Age Miniatures
my long-awaited 'Plutonian buggies'
aka build a bug set
is DONE and being cast as we speak
well almost. It will have enough parts to build 4 complete 'alien bugs'
in a variety of forms! Not 4 of same kind, but 4 bug in more than one way! 8-) I hope to have them up for sale in a week or two, inbetween 'moving' and all that! Maybe? How goes the paper kitting??? *slish* |
Gungnir | 06 Oct 2007 2:54 a.m. PST |
Paper is doing well, I've been selling a lot over here in h0, will be trying to make it even more at a regional train show next month. More is in the pipeline, but between hospital visits and printing up extra brochures for a paranormal fair tomorrow I haven't had much time to really work out many of the new designs yet. I do try to write down/sketch all of my ideas and other cranial misfires, just in case I ever get to them. IKEA was friendly enough to donate a nice bound pocket sized sketch booklet, which now accompanies me wherever I go. And I notice that since I started designing paper buildings I've been looking much differently at buildings. More like: "hm, that would make a nice doctor's house for the village", etc. For people who are confused now: a) now you know what it's like to be me b) gungnir.come2me.nl |

All these 'order confirmations' are designed as a double-bluff, I think; They try to make you click the link in case you've already been charged. One almost got me recently; I got an email saying someone had started a complaint on Ebay about me. Luckily, Firefox noticed it was a phishing link, and blocked it. |

Mes Cybernetics' email account was spamfree until she registered with the public library to get email notices for books she'd placed on order. I suspect the VA has been infiltrated as well. =( YMMV, R. |

Here's a question for the masses..why don't the makers of 'SPAM' canned meats go 'after' the folks who use the word 'spam'? I mean, surely GW has a 'few' attorneys they'd 'donate' to the cause? I also 'suspect' as RCC said above
the 'exclusive/we won't SELL your name lists' from VA to PUBLIC library or Toys R Us, etc have been 'compromised' at some time
without them even being 'aware' of it. IF the 'FBI' could be 'hacked' just so someone could 'prove' they did it
(which was a stunt more than not)
why not OTHER data bases LESS secure, less 'obvious' and more 'lucrative'? Think about it, IF I was 'good enough' to hack SECURITY agencies
(but on one-shot basis/leave the country after)
why bother with THEM? Go after the 'meaty goodness/money-makers'
the databases/names/addresses etc that I could re-sell over and over to 'spammers' that they'd otherwise not have access to? Less 'obvious', more profit, but still a 'challenge' as in you'd want to hack them WITHOUT them EVER noticing
or as long as possible
so you could KEEP pulling new data to resell??? Now THAT would be a 'REAL genius'
vs the 'flashy' kind. Forunately, I'm not smart enough to even program my speed dial on my new 'basic package cellphone'
(even with 1 page 'fast' instructions
), my wife did that for me
just so I could call her and home without always dialing
*sigh* So I'm not a 'security' threat to the electronic medium. Now if I could download the way my BRAIN 'misfires' as Gungnir sometimes mentions as happeing to him too
THAT would be one of those, 'You fool! You've' doomed us all' sorta moments
Bwah-hah-ha~~~! Overheard in Doctor's waiting room: 'I think the mail-order company got my shipments mislabled! All the grass in my yard is at least 8 inches tall and stands straight up every time a lady walks by it and now I have to talk to my urologist about certain body parts turning green
..' |

Here's a question for the masses..why don't the makers of 'SPAM' canned meats go 'after' the folks who use the word 'spam'? Wouldn't do any good--the people who send it don't call it spam. Everyone else does. |
Dances With Words | 07 Oct 2007 5:28 p.m. PST |
Actually, I've had a couple of very tasty dishes made with canned spam, especially if it's fried a bit crispy with soy sauce and tossed in some scrabled cheddar and swiss cheese eggs! They also have more 'varieties/flavors?' of Spam meats than the original, but that's besides the point. While it's not my most favorite food product, I don't think it's fair for it to be associated with such a 'negative' subject as 'electronic junk mail/advertisments/scams' and so on. We have some very CLEVER folks here on TMP, better with words and language, etc by far than I'd ever try. Why can't someone come up with a better 'catch-phrase' or acronym or SOMETHING better that folks can use? Junk mail is still junk whether it's paper, plastic or electrons. I am ALSO very, VERY tired of someone called 'staypuft' (like the character from Ghostbusters), sending me 'offline' messages in Yahoo IM, even though I'd THOUGHT I'd blocked them and reported them as 'spam' *sigh* I was supposedly 'invisible' at the time one of them came thru and sometimes it's someone 'posing?' as a 'young, lonely, (as in VERY lonely relating to horns), who was bored watching tv and starts 'playing with'
etc and then sends me her website addy. I've IGNORED her, I've told her to 'go away' in UNKIND terms as 'no thanks/leave me alone' didn't work and she still 'hits on me'. So I may just drop yahoo IM rather than have to keep 'dealing' with it. I have enough 'pains' in my life/body parts without having to deal with 'electronic arseclowns' as well. I think I need a really good piece of spiced pumpkin pie with french vanilla coolwhip dollop on top! You know, the recipe with the cinnamon, nutmeg, dash of vanilla, allspice and clove..(not really used clove before as so 'strong')
was JUST right and very tasty. And the slice needs to be 'still warm' from the oven!! *sigh*

Spam in batter is pretty good really. For a range of spam recipes, open a gmail account. You get regular new spam recipes every time you open your mailbox. Though what I was really going to say was 'yes, I get several of those fake pharmacy orders every day as well'. Just the spam thing is of more use. |
