Sounds like something that might cause some worry, so I thought I would try to bring it to people's attention.

So the spammers have run out of poor saps to handle millions from oil ministers and are now simply threatening people instead. Nice.

Now if the Nigerian oil Minister had actually kept his promise of sending me all that money I might be worth holding for ransom!

That is just really wonderful. Some people are going to get genuinely scared, particularly those who *can* think of a reason someone might have to kill them.

Its remotely funny when someone tries a stupid stunt to play upon people's greed to take their money from them, its not remotely funny when someone tries sends a plausible threat that's going to create fear and anxiety to take their money from them.

If every cloud does have a silver lining this may be it: people should and will report this to the police, the police will spend time and money looking into this situation, and it will be another clear sign that we need some accountability in the realm of email. Spammers cannot be allowed to act like this.
