madra or gadhar prenounced something like mada or gaighar. Which depends on the dielect you speak.

Why've they cut out the crocodiles? The crocodiles were my favourite bit.

I happen to like ugly women with fat legs.

Didn't mean to be snippy, but as something of a Welshman myself, I took exception to being lumped in with the stinky Scots and Irish. They were our enemies even before the English turned up. Just because we're all Celts, it don't mean we're the same.

That was quick! Thanks for the info. My sister just rescued another dog and wants to give it a Gaelic name (sister's name is Gail. This proves bad jokes are hereditary).

I'll take a Beyonce, no crocs, with a side of Carmen Electra.

i thought it was cu pronounced 'coo'…?

Waco Joe09 Sep 2007 2:26 p.m. PST

I think cu is probably more like hound as in Cú Chulainn the hound of Culann

I guess the crocs would get pretty placid in the snow, but seem kind of cumbersome.

Gallowglass09 Sep 2007 5:06 p.m. PST

"Cú" is the word for hound, pronounced "COO".

"Madra", pronounced "modd -rah" is the common Irish word for dog.

hurcheon09 Sep 2007 5:58 p.m. PST

In Scots Gaelic "Cu" is dog. the name Colin means a young person but a literal translation is "A young dog".

The Gonk10 Sep 2007 3:23 a.m. PST

A Gaelic dog is a regular hot dog with potatoes and Guinness on it.

chronoglide10 Sep 2007 9:24 a.m. PST

I thought a gaelic dog was a really ugly lesbian…
