I saw this movie on TV back in the early 70s, but I'm pretty sure it was originally a theatrical release, so probably made in the late 60s-early 70s.

I think the film is set in the Greek islands, but I might be confusing it with another film. A middle-aged Dad brings home a beautiful governess (or maybe step-mother) to help look after his son (probably around 10 or 12 years old). The pre-pubescent boy is confused by his attraction to the woman, and in one scene he dumps a bottle of her perfume on his head. There was no hanky-panky between the kid and the woman, though, so it wasn't a "Graduate" for the elementary school set.

As I recall, the woman was played by one of those sultry dark-haired foreign-born actresses of that era – Claudine Longet, Genevieve Bujold, someone like that – but searches based on those actresses turn up nothing.

And that's pretty much all I remember about the film. Years of searching on Google and IMDB have yielded nothing, so I'm hoping you can help me out here, guys.

Private Lessons?

No, it's not "Private Lessons" or "My Tutor" or any of those early 80s flicks. This was definitely late 60s-early 70s, and it was more psychological and serious, less titillating than those films.

And it's not a version of "Turn of the Screw", either.
