I need to rant, so please forgive me. Right now I am living 50 miles from my job and commuting everyday. On the salary I'm making it's killing me. I am also set to complete my last (unpaid) internship this fall, which incidentally is also near my job. Naturally I was looking for an apt closer. Here's the rub, due to the fact that I will have a reduction in salary from my time off needed for my internship for 4 months I needed to find a place both inexpensive and with a roommate to share bills. I had a roommate and a place lined up back in February. My move in was set for June 20 (next week). The problem is we weren't allowed to sign a lease until a month prior to move in. Ok, no biggie. Well, turns out a month ago my roommate decided she wanted to live on her own, so while I was on vacation in Europe she went and signed a lease for a one-bedroom place and ditched me, sending me this info by e-mail, WHILE I WAS ON VACATION, with only a month left to find a replacement roommate. Ok, no one out here wants to move in June, everyone moves in early spring or fall because there are lots of college students out here. So I go on a quest to find a new roommate. I put out ads on Myspace, Facebook, Craigslist, and roommates.com, as well as ask EVERYONE I know. The majority of bites I get are spam. I get one guy who's interested but he's so non-chalant I'm not sure he's trying to defraud me. He's incredibly hard to reach, has not shown up TWICE when we were supposed to meet, and has told me he's faxed in his rental app when the apt rental people say he hasn't. He's still up in the air at this moment. The I had another guy who was interested, all gung ho about it, went to up to see the place, and was ready to go. Then he called me the next day to say he couldn't move that far from school. Finally at the very least I had one of my co-workers who wanted to stay with me, but because she doesn't know how much longer she's in the area she didn't want to sign a lease. I'm not allowed to sublet the place, however, I found out that as long as I stay I can rotate out my roommates, I'd just need her to sign the lease initially. She was ok with this initially but last night she changed her mind and decided she wouldn't sign the lease. So now I may lose the place I've had set since February, with no back up, and I have to move by the end of the month. I hate people.

That was a pretty good rant. There were caps and no paragraph breaks. It shows bitterness and spite. It really is something of a hopeless situation for which you can blame someone else.

Nice job.

That situation does suck. Where are you located?

I had a worse roommate situation once and ended up having to sue her for it. Women are just trouble.

Indeed, I had no time for paragraphs, it was a stream of consciousness rant. I'm currently in Radford, VA moving to Roanoke, VA.

The worst thing is my job is up in the air too as I have to take off so much for my internship they may not retain me, which leads to an entirely different kettle of worms.

Any chance any gamers want to move to Roanoke, VA quickly?

Sorry, can't help you there. But I always had great luck with roommates. Hang on, and I will try to send you some good roommate juju through the 'net.

Ready?

INCOMING JU JU!

Seriously – good luck.

There's nothing more frustrating than not knowing where you're going to live. Best of luck. Steve.

Thanks, man. I need it. I've always had horrible luck with roommates.

That really sucks. I do hope you find someone to help out today, if not RIGHT NOW. Wish there was something I could do besides hold good thoughts for you.

Yeah..you have to be careful with roommates. I had one once that liked VERY YOUNG GIRLS a "little too much"….

The Xenophon Clause: You are alone, cut off from all aid, your small elite army nearly surrounded. Your mission is to ascertain enemy positions (apt.'s available around you?), gauge the strength needed to attack (your personal economic damage), and determine exactly where or how you are going to escape from what might possibly be the most harrowing time yet seen. Keep in mind though, that as depressing and horrendous as this is, your name shall ever be cried victorious amongst following generations of wargamers; for this trying time is what great men are made of.

I give the rant an 8.
Although I agree with Pictor's comments, it was a little to coherent to be a "proper" rant…

Anyway, sounds sucky, best of luck!

Having to worry about where your going to live in a month really would suck! But, you sound like you're really trying to pull something togeather, so, no doupt, everything will work-out.
