OK,
so "fixing" up the beds to sell the "old" house so get a delivery of 20 (cubic) "yards" of mulch. Turns out we ended up about 1.5 yards short, so I go back to the "Mulch Depot" to get the rest in bagged mulch (as it falls way below the minumum delvery, and (since my second child) am "Truckless"

Here's where the sticker shock set in…
Paid (in aggregate, including delivery charges) about $18/yard for bulk delivery, versus $45/yard for bag.

OUCH!

what kind of mulch was that? Bark or sawdust?

Dude that sucks my town provides free mulch to anyone who comes and picks it up. Of course your gas costs driving to florida and back to jersey might offset your savings just a bit.

the bagged is cheaper in the beginning of the season. gas has increased the price alot this year.

Usually I have to get close to 20 yards of anything to do better than the bagged price. The advantage of course is not having to lug around or split open a billion bags.

Lon,

Where do you get your Mulch from?
Dan Cuomo and Sons (aka "The Mulch Depot") Charges $14/yard for double ground, plus a flat $40 USD shipping fee (at least to Montville, maybe a little higher for Kinnelon). His 2 cubic feet bags of triple ground (since they don't have bags of double) are $3 USD each.

Always check the county or neighboring county dumps/landfills (if neighboring, you will need a friend with an ID from that county). Most grind up old branches, cut trees from road projects, etc. and give it away for free. They would rather give it away than have to find space to bury it.
