Hi Guys,

have been away for a few weeks and am just back. My wife gave birth to our first child on saturday, a 8.6lb baby, nathan. Mum and baby fine, but my father passed away at home during ther labour. A mixed day, but cant get over how captivated I am by my son.

Congrats for the Munchkin ( !!!! ), and condolences for your Dad.

A child will change your life in ways that you never expected.

( Some advise, you're probably entering the first stages of sleep deprivation, sleep when the child sleeps, and TAKE YOUR VITAMINS! )

Bring together an album of pictures of your father and notes of all your best memories of him. The young fellow will want to know about his grandfather later on, and this is a good way to provide that for him.

That's sad. Was it expected? My father died suddenly, 5 weeks after the birth of my son. Mum & Dad had planned to come out and visit, but I disueaded them as we needed to get used to the baby…..so, he never did see my son. Beat myself up for many eyars after that one.

Congratulations Phil, and of course my sympathies are also with you!

My first born will be 3 in a couple of months (about a month before No.2 is due), he still amazes me and every day he learns something new and I can't help but smile at it!

Congratulations on your son.

my father was 74 and in poor health, and not looking after himself properly, so it was not unexpected, but the timing sucked. It was actually saturday 2 weeks ago (07/04/07) but if forgot to type that…………..

I started wargaming recruitment on my son early, my wife wanted me to read to him before he was born, so he would get used to the sound of my voice, so I read him the melee chapter of Might of Arms, it didnt go down so well with my wife.

Sad news, about your dad, Phil and I'm sorry it had to happen at that time, but I'd like to wish you both every joy and happiness in sharing your lives with your son.

Sorry to hear about your father. That makes things bittersweat.

But _congratulations_ on your son!
