Gentlemen, and ladies, I just got back from a tour of this museum with my VFW post. All I can say is that if you are in Kansas City, this is a "must see" attraction. If you aren't in Kansas City, find a reason to be. The displays are top notch, and the tour flows very smoothly through the war. This is literally a one of a kind place, that must be seen, if at all possible. I plan on going back, with the family in tow, as soon as time permits.

Thanks for the heads up. Not that I'm going to have a chance to visit any time soon, unfortunately.

I grew up near Leavenworth, Kansas and my wife's parents still live in Eudora (about 20 miles west of KC on K-10).

I WILL make it to the museum this summer!

Thanks for the report.

I live in KC, have been twice and couldn't agree more. It's a world class museum, fantastic array of uniforms, weapons, field guns, and thousands of other artifacts, all beautifully displayed. Plus, a first rate bookshop/giftshop, with models and Armies in Plastic WWI troops! Finally, if you go – pay the little extra for the trip to the top of the tower, you'll get the best view of KC available short of a helicopter ride. And, don't forget to check out the two smaller buildings on top – they contain a display of the original mural developed for the opening ceremony in 1921, showing all the major attendees and representation from all the Allied nations involved in the war.
