So I had my interview today. I was 30 minutes early after stopping by the office where my First Sergeant works ADSW so he could check my resume and biographical sketch. He gave it the nod and he ran it by a Lieutenant that works with him. He gave it the nod as well.

I found out that there are two slots available and there were seven candidates. All were to be interviewed today.

The Lt. Col. who is the OIC of the State Counterdrug Support Office as well as the Command Sergeant Major who is the NCOIC and the Air Force Senior Tech Sgt. who is the NCOIC of the Civil Operations Office sat in the interview. The actual interview was the typical "tell us about yourself, weaknesses, strengths, goals, blah, blah." We've all had them, we've all answered them.

There were more specific questions regarding the mission of the office, but I won't go into them here.

At the end of it all, the NCOIC of the Civil Operations Office seemed like she was trying to sell the job to me rather than the other way around. She even went so far as to say she thought I gave a strong interview and liked my interview style and could see I have a slightly analytical style to my communication. The CSM was impressed with my computer knowledge, especially Microsoft Access (thanks, Cpt. Jake!) and other applications. The OIC seemed impressed with my language training and varied job experience.

I will know within two weeks. Fingers are crossed, wood has been knocked upon multiple times. I wonder if it will help knocking on wood with crossed fingers? Couldn't hurt, I guess.

Stay tuned!

Oh oh. Sounds bad. But maybe military interviews are different than academic ones.

Good luck, Jay!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out. Sounds like you are well rounded (and not like most of the rest of us.)

It's been my experience that officers like to have well-rounded individuals in their staffs. The whole outside the box thing and what not.

But then, I also came up in a special operations atmosphere.

Glad it went well, and I hope it works out.
