And yes, not only is it a Maine company, but they make some great tasting brews! I can easily give my personal stamp of approval to Chamberlain Ale!

Why is there not a link to more info on Huzzah?

I love Shipyard's products, especially Old Thumper.

No chance of free samples in the UK, is there? :)

I was at the Shipyard brewery last month. Their Barley Wine and Ginger Beer are excellent. Nice bunch of people also.

Now there's a coincidence. By virtue of it being the local post office, I have a pub supporting me, and therefore the Huzzah! Napoleonic rules I produce ( oozlumgames.co.uk ). And now it appears the Huzzah! convention in the US is also beer-powered.

Is there nothing that beer cannot do? :-)

Ian,

You can combine pubs and post offices in the UK? Now that is progressive thinking! My post office is a short walk away, which would be very convenient.

Great set of rules too. I used to follow them many years ago on the Yahoo! group and I still like the idea of the threat test. I am hopeful that once my 10mm troops are based, we can try it again with the local club.

As to the convention- its going to be a lot of fun. Vendors and sponsors are lining up, and we are taking emails every week from game masters wanting to run games. You can learn more by visiting the convention web site huzzahcon.com and you can follow discussions about the convention, as well as our Battle of Sabis project at mainewargamershq.lefora.com

I love Pumpkinhead from Shipyard. It is the best of all the seasonals in my humble, but correct opinion.

Dean,

For post offices in pubs, see:

I think it's the best news item I've ever posted in terms of hits. :-)

Will this have any impact on potential convention attendees who are under the legal drinking age?

Wargaminginmaine19 Nov 2009 10:05 a.m. PST

Hi, Cke1st,

I dont think this will change anything as regards younger gamers. There is a lounge in the convention center offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. It may be that youngsters are not allowed in the lounge without a parent but that was the case already. Shipyard also sells natural sodas, so there will be non-alcoholic options, in addition to water, milk, juice, etc.

Ian,

An excellent arrangement you have. The only way to get more hits for your post would be to have the Two Hour Wargames girl hold the photo of the pub/post office.
