I agree Cossacks would be great but was this even used by the Soviets in WWII? It mentions WWI and the Russian Civil War but I have not found info stating it was used in WWII. If it was would someone please provide a link to info for it. |

Yes, standard machine gun equipment for WW2 Soviet cavalry. Should usually have 4 horses, however, as in the photo 20thmaine has posted above … Phil |

Virtually useless on Flames of War. They're a stupid cart! With an ox-cart's mobility! How ya gonna keep up with the Cossacks? I hope they fare better in Bolt Action. |

I have one of these made by Eureka. Wonder how they compare in size. Revolutionary anthem for the Red Army machine-gun-cart regiments YouTube link |

The normal speed of horse troops is the walk. A horse drawn wagon is ideal for keeping up at a horse's walking pace. A horse drawn wagon is also better than a motorised vehicle for not scaring cavalry mounts (i.e. horses). A horse drawn wagon uses the same fuel as the cavalry mounts – a motorised vehicle requires some form of petrol. Unless it's a steam lorry when it needs coal. |
