I wonder if they will add some of the other tanks to the KS if they reach enough funding? I love combined arms forces, but the tanks are some of the priciest minis in the HG line, and its hard to justify over $100 USD for a squad of them. :-( |

They're described as 1/144 (N gauge), so that's in the ballpark with CAV – has anyone used any HG figs beside CAV figs to see how they look together? |
ordinarybass | 24 Oct 2014 12:54 p.m. PST |
Standard sized HG Gears are smaller than almost all CAV's. Gears are more of a large armored suit. Gears are about the same size as some light or medium 6mm battletech mechs. I've got a squad of gears that I'm going to use as "protomechs" in my 10mm Alpha Strike games which use mostly rebased mechwarrior clix mechs. |

I can't help but wonder how long they'll stick with this version--isn't this the third or fourth reincarnation? I started with the game way back when, in its original scale and approach, but sold everything off in disgust. Oh well. |

I'm interested, and would be in to my eyeballs I'd they still had the 1/87 scale minis. |

Thanks Ordinarybass – so it seems then that they're best as big PA in 10/12mm or smaller mechs in 6mm. 6mm using odd BT figs and the EM4 stuff was my original mech project and I've bought in to the CAV KS, so I guess I'm good either way. |

Here's a pic of the current scale 1/144 heavy gears ( medium sized) with some 15mm GZG Mercs.
They scale up perfect for perfect for 10-15' tall armor with a single pilot. The old scale 1/87 RAFM ones scale up perfect for 28mm as the same thing. |

I actually think the rules evolution has been good producing more streamlined versions. The scale change was probably needed, if the current minis are pricey the previous ones would have been very bad by now.. I still have a bunch of the old 1/87 scale and I use the for 15mm sci fi… I wouldn't sell them for anything…( well, not for anything people are willing to pay :) ) All in all the better the HG guys do the better…. not sure about the KS since I have enough stuff in metal but just like was mentioned above the tanks in plastics would be great… cheers Francisco |

Keno, going to have to disagree there. The current 1/144 scale is more 10-12mm scale. Noway those mercs are going to fit in the chest cavity of those gears. And the old 1/87 scale gears are great for 15mm. Way too small for 28mm. I have 1/60 scale VOTOM's that 28mm wont scale with though 25mm looks damn good. I have been acquiring 1/87 scale recently for my 15mm forces and a few 1/48 or 1/60 Scopedog's for my 28 and 25mmfigs. The 1/87 have been used by many for years for perfect 15mm PA. Seldon, you know you have too many. You need to let some go. ;-) As for the KS, still kind of the wrong scale for me, but the new medium they plan to use has me intrigued. Grimm |

Right there with Bumbydad – HGB is the only game I've ever quit in disgust. The local group got fed up with all the new rules, FAQs, and just plain backwards thinking on the part of the game designers. |
boy wundyr x | 27 Oct 2014 7:21 a.m. PST |
@Grimmnar – those GZG mercs are pretty bulky for 15mm, regular 15mm guys might fit into the HG stuff in an Appleseed sort of way, somewhere between a cockpit and wearing the power armour. Not my plan for them, but it's good to have options. |

Lord Christ, plastic Heavy Gears… This is the best news I have ever heard. |

Loved the game. Had first version from back in the day. Ran several demos, had great looking terrain…. then scale change. I was not a happy camper. I will give it a look, but… |
