Aren't these essentially the same figs from Foundry's Darkest Africa Range…with some new bits and bobs? They look awfully familiar to me.

Doubt it…says the figs are from a new sculptor.

Of COURSE they're married…look how Ticked off they are!

WillieB18 Nov 2009 10:10 a.m. PST

Overpriced re-hashed stuff.

Mark S18 Nov 2009 10:18 a.m. PST

Um, why bother one pack 6 figures cost UK £1.79 GBP each, Empress designed by Paul Hicks £1.25 GBP and very nice, the Black Tree Design ones done by Nick Collier are very nice too and cheaper again. The best designers in my mind the Perry's charge £1.00 GBP for a foot figure, Front Rank £1.00 GBP another supplier I use a lot.
Not knocking Foundry as I have lots of them and will be buying somemore soon, but only where I can not get the quality due to the ranges they do from another better/keenly priced manufacturer. I know they do discounts, but have to wait for them to come around and hope what you want will be covered.

WarWizard18 Nov 2009 10:39 a.m. PST

Those new Foundry ones are nice. I really like the BTD though, so I think I will stick with those.

Baggy Sausage18 Nov 2009 11:44 a.m. PST

Zulus and Zombies, you can't have too many of them.

axabrax18 Nov 2009 11:48 a.m. PST

They look very similar to Mark Copplestone's style but not quite as good.

mashrewba18 Nov 2009 11:49 a.m. PST

weapons are extra…

IUsedToBeSomeone18 Nov 2009 12:01 p.m. PST

I believe these are sculpted on the Mark Copplestone DA dollies from what has been said elsewhere…

They are off of Copplestone's dollies from Foundry's Darkest Africa range.

Cyrus--Okay. I stand corrected.

Luke Warm18 Nov 2009 1:51 p.m. PST

If you lot were Proper Collectors you'd just buy 'em … no questions asked …bloomin Philastines!

Bill Peterson18 Nov 2009 2:11 p.m. PST

The "Collection" (48 figures) is selling for £73.40 GBP post free.

That's $123 USD USD at today's exchange rate.

For $119.70 USD post free you could have 180 Zulus from Wargames Factory! Pay $3.30 USD less and get 132 more figures!!!!!!!!!!

It looks like those Zulus have been visiting the weight lifting room. Either that, or taking steroids.

harbaugh8718 Nov 2009 2:36 p.m. PST

Man boobs?

AND… you can take the heads from their plastic zombies and make Zulu zombies. :)

nycjadie18 Nov 2009 3:54 p.m. PST

I think they look well done, from the small pictures I've seen. I'd like to seem them up close and in person, though.

Best,

What, nobody mentioned that for that price you get to buy the weapons and shields seperately ?

Augustus Supporting Member of TMP18 Nov 2009 8:12 p.m. PST

Thanks, but at those prices, I'm going with Wargames Factory. Foundry needs to get a grip on reality.

Number619 Nov 2009 6:05 a.m. PST

People who complain about prices like this have never looked at what it costs to run a busines. Wargaming is full of hobbyist manufacturers who can afford to barely make any profit at all – and there are a few sole proprietors who only have to provide for themselves – but when you have a business that several people depend on for their entire livelihoods, the equation changes drastically (the same with GW). I doubt anyone at Foundry is getting rich. That's what it costs to provide that kind of quality and variety to a tiny niche market that usually only wants one of each product (products that don't wear out). And their Collections are better deals and their Specials are always great deals.

combatpainter Fezian19 Nov 2009 6:30 a.m. PST

I actually agree with #6. Gamers are a bunch of cheapskates. Not all but most. They want something for nothing and do nothing more than look for a bargain constantly and want everyone to provide amazing quality and sell below cost while using a poor house as a production facility and living on bread and water. That is just the way it is. This is specialty market and these guys aren't selling donuts. Long live Foundry!

Overmuscled and overpriced.

elcid109919 Nov 2009 8:45 a.m. PST

They look pretty good.

Lowtardog19 Nov 2009 8:52 a.m. PST

I think they look nice, especially like the shields but as said the pectorals are a little over developed but that applies equally to the other copplestone DA figures too

sharnydubs220 Nov 2009 8:24 a.m. PST

Glad to see new figures coming out from Foundry. I hadn't heard of this sculptor before but this initial work looks good.

I am always amazed at how much invective there is whenever Foundry release any new product be it figures, books or paints. We all know they price themselves at the top of the market but that shouldn't prevent us from giving a balanced view on their products. I have seen too many companies come and go over the years that Foundry has been in business to criticise their business approach.

Get over yourself…

Yes, there are cheapskates, but they're in every field, and looking for bargains doesn't necessarily make one such, unless the norm for you is to expect everyone to spend like sailors on shore leave and ignoring markups. Under Foundry's unrealistic exchange rates, the collection's ~$157.

Rackham ignored their customer base and still do, raised metal figure prices to extreme levels, then abandoned the material, and look where it's gotten them. GW switched to plastics for similar reasons.
