So, one of the sample scenarios is Brandywine. That answers my unasked question about suitability for AWI.
However, I could find no info on unit sizes, compatibility with existing based armies, etc. Maybe I didn't look hard enough?

And the cover illustration doesn't have much to do with powdery wigs, looking to be 1814-1815 (and we do go to 1856 it seems) Oh picky picky

Sounds damn fine to me! Harrumph!

But, yes, let's see more floggin'. Always enjoy a good floggin'!

And blood letting. A good bleeding (a la Colonel Simmerson) is necessary from time to time. Eh what?

Hi to you.
Author here.

Units sizes are…

A battalion/ squadron is 3 elements. A Company is one element, a battery of arty is one element.

If you are using individually based figures, it's what ever you like per "element", 3-4 figures works best.

So if you have 30 bases of foot, you can field 10 battalions.

Bathtubbing is easy, just call battalions "regiments" and go down to 6mm.

As for the timespan, I've fought Franco-prussian with these and a couple of simple modifiers for range 'n firepower. Sweet.

The army lists are very much in the usual Atkins wargames armylist ethos of sort-it-out-as-you-like-it

Name Description Point Cost
Foot 5
Horse 12
Artillery 15
Grenadiers 7
Light Foot May skirmish 7
Guards +1 Morale Foot 7
Lancers 16
Cuirassiers Heavy Horse 20
Horse Artillery 20
French Artiller +1 Musfketry fire +5
Poor General 5
General 10
Good General 15
Excellent General 20
Good Shots +3
Elite +5
Poor -2
Poor Shots -1

So if you are a fanboy of the 34th Rgt of Foot & Mouth and think that in the battle you are playing, that they "RoXXored the BoXXors" and owned all other regiments. Then they will be
FOOT /GOOD SHOTS/ELITE

If you read about the 14th Drag Goon's pathetic charge where they failed miserably to ride down to the pub,and were mostly made up of poachers and huntsmen make them.

HORSE/POOR/(may dismount as FOOT/GOOD SHOTS)

They are supported by Amazons Nappy range and a website that pumps out the odd scenario and answers rules questions.

These are a set for experienced wargamers for playing at Home or Club with freinds.

Hope you like 'em.

_kusy_ = *just*

Took me a while to figure it out when I read the published message!

"A battalion/ squadron is 3 elements. A Company is one element, a battery of arty is one element."

Since when were there only 3 companies in a battalion?

Tommiatkins05 Jun 2007 11:37 a.m. PST

The main unit in P&C is the battalion. It consists of 3 stands. The stands are a representation of casulties inflicted as they are removed. As i say, It can be a regiment a squadron a tea party or whatever.

The single stand being a company is just representative.

It's a element based game so actual figures per battalion are not too important.

Cheers.

"The stands are a representation of casualties inflicted as they are removed."

OK, so a single stand is NOT a company then.

A set of rules for people who don't take themselves too seriously, maybe?

mashrewba18 Dec 2007 3:33 p.m. PST

Franco prussian war- now I hadn't thought of that and I've got these rules- any comments anyone?

mashrewba12 Sep 2011 10:56 a.m. PST

no

Dave Gamer11 Feb 2012 7:26 p.m. PST

Actually, I've purchased the rules and am thinking of doing FPW with them. I'm figuring 4 stands for Prussians and lights on both sides (Jagers\Chasseurs). 3 stands for French and all cavalry. 1 arty stand per 6 guns. Thinking of popping the base line movement up to 4 inches (my stands will be 1 inch wide). Prussian Dreyse 8 inch range, Chassepot 16 inches. Haven't figure artillery ranges or Mitrailleuse yet. I'm thinking of representing leaders at Division level and up.
