Since these are mated with Flames of War kits, one presumes they are 15mm? Jim |

Curious that there's no "open fire" logo on the box front. |

Sherman Vs and Fireflies, but American infantry, not British? Only 2 AFVs in the small packs? I will have to read more to understand these curious choices. |

2 Shermans in a small pack suits me, I have been wanting a couple of Jumbos for some time. This might just tempt. |

It would interest me and I don't play flames of war, so from that point of view, it looks like their marketing might grab a new slice of audience. |

I wish someone would make an all plastic Easy 8 sherman tank. The only one has funky lead tanks… |

So there's a new set of rules called "Open Fire"? Would this be Flames of War Lite? |
normsmith | 28 Mar 2015 11:52 a.m. PST |
I spoke to a chap in a gamestore last week and he said that this is the new starter kit and it won't have the full rulebook in it. Also just noticed in the current Wargames Illustrated magazine (issue 329), there is quite a bit there about the 'new plastic' including the sprue details (at 100%) for the British rifles and the M5 half track. This looks like an effort to recapture some of the ground that the Plastic Soldier Company have in this area as the British inf have 144 figures and th half track box has 4 models, the Comet platoon has 5 tanks. |

The open fire rules are a bit more simplified than the standard Flames of War rules. PDF link PDF link |

"Sherman Vs and Fireflies, but American infantry, not British?" This came out originally as part of their Bridge Too Far releases, so the British tanks are supporting the US Paratroopers, as they did in the actual campaign. |

Has anyone done the math on buying this set, versus buying the stuff on it's own? Seems it might be a good set to get, even if you don't play FOW. |
AWuuuu | 29 Mar 2015 12:48 p.m. PST |
Not interested in FOW a bit but I want pair of SU 85 and Panther/Jagdpanthers!! (I've bought 2 Open fire sets just for the miniatures last year) I prefer PSC, but they don't do Jagdpanthers nor Su anti tank guns, and they are hard to get by one locally – so this is win win to me. |

This box set was originally designed around Market Garden organization so there was US para support which supports the stuff in the box. Just on the tanks themselves, you get 8 Shermans/fireflies (now you can do a different mix due to using the new plastics instead of the old garbage ones) so $60 USD for those tanks and then 3 stugs at average $7.50 USD each so you're essentially buying 10 tanks and getting 1 tank, 2 pak 40s (plastic sprue bit orderable for $6 USD) and a 2 platoon grenadier company and a US para platoon for $70 USD |
